Bairstow doesn’t know the rules of cricket. We all know that 😂

'What's the point of the spike?' Bairstow, Faf du Plessis unimpressed by DRS call despite huge gap

Aussies will just keep on doing what Aussies always do. Winning !

'Bazbulls--t': Cricket bible slammed as Test team of the year features zero Aussies, FIVE Poms

On the whole conservatism rules and the selectors have done ok. Probs a 7.5/10. I do feel some players out of form were carried too long and have yet to justify keeping their place in the side despite some improvement in their performance. Was pleasantly surprised when they dropped Marsh for Webster. It paid immediate dividends picking a player in form over one who is not.

Numbers don’t lie when it comes to the majority of Aussie Test team being in fading final phase of their career

Not so much disappointed about being eliminated by the eventual premier but with the way it occurred. Also not making top 4 in the first place. Injury concerns already and the presidents ethics again called into question. Haven’t renewed my membership yet. Should I bother. Chose to support this club as a 7 year old in the days of Jezza, Southby, Ashman and the like and a president who truly wanted success for the club not just himself. Can’t say I’ve truly loved it since Jack Elliott took over in 83. 😔

AFL Top 100: Carlton's big forwards have the chance to move up the club's all-time goal-scoring rankings in 2025

The selectors should just stick to picking the best team/squad. So why are Labs and Stoinis going ?

Ageing ODI side worse than Aussie Test team when it comes to futureproofing - Konstas should be put on fast track

Have avoided watching him for a number of years. Couldn’t be relied upon to show up and give 100% for the people funding his lifestyle. We’ve had quite a few like that unfortunately.

'Can't see myself playing here again': Kyrgios drops brutal bombshell after painful first round exit

It’s all about the money, money, money. Unfortunately greed (and corruption) rules across the world landscape. The people in charge aren’t really that interested in cross subsidising and developing sport or anything else for that matter. Maximising profits over the short term is all that matters. There is little care for what happens in five years and beyond.

Dollars and sense the only way to save Test cricket, not two-tier system that gives Big Three even more control

He’s pair of 70s at the MCG has bought him a couple more tests. Can’t see how moving him to opener will improve his output and he’ll need to improve his strike rate if dropping down the order. Best option is he finds the form he once had or he eventually gets dropped.

How do you solve a problem like Marnus? The four options facing selectors as dry spell turns into drought

OK, Bumrah: Indian star stupendous against Aussies but not the greatest of all time by a visiting bowler

That was a great series from Hadlee. But geez how bad was our batting lineup. Some shocking dismissals in that video clip.

OK, Bumrah: Indian star stupendous against Aussies but not the greatest of all time by a visiting bowler

He’ll need another score soon for sure. Too much focus on modes and methods rather than output. Another batsman scratching around, not playing shots, not making runs and not getting into double figures regularly is the last thing we need.

Ponting's warning to 'little pest' Konstas - 'don't think you can survive as a Test opener playing like that'

Despite his “failures” in the fifth test he still outscored all of Khawaja, Labuschagne and Smith. His quick fire 22 in the second innings released much of the pressure only for the failure of Labuschagne and Smith to have it reapplied. I don’t think anyone who knows about cricket would expect his methods to work long term but they worked just fine in these last two tests. We’ve had too many batsman scratching around, not scoring enough runs and not quick enough so it brings a better balance to our lineup to have someone playing more aggressively.

Ponting's warning to 'little pest' Konstas - 'don't think you can survive as a Test opener playing like that'

Most of our bats have been failing 3 out of 4 innings for quite some time. If the standard is raised and applied consistently there won’t be any cause for compliant

Ponting's warning to 'little pest' Konstas - 'don't think you can survive as a Test opener playing like that'

It’s been 2 tests, not 15. In the situations he has encountered so far his strategies actually worked out quite well. He will need to adapt to different circumstances and if he continues to average 22 I wouldn’t expect he would last 15 tests. He just competed in a test that lasted 2 1/2 days and getting quick runs in the circumstances was advantageous. If he plays on a better batting wicket he will need to stick around a bit longer and make bigger scores. But there’s no real need to be predicting, seems like almost wanting his failure.

Ricky starting to sound like an old man. The strategy worked to an extent and we won both tests. Let’s see what he does in differing situations that may be coming up.

I’ve heard he’s really really good

Aussie squad CONFIRMED: Rookie bolter, Smith to captain, McSweeney returns for Sri Lanka tour

I’m going with the theory they want Richardson to play shield rather than be a reserve who doesn’t play.

Wait for it. Wait for it………….i have no complaints about these selections 😛

Aussie squad CONFIRMED: Rookie bolter, Smith to captain, McSweeney returns for Sri Lanka tour

I’m not going to ruin my joy of watching cricket by turning to the BBL. I miss the old ODI tri-series but such is life. The test series was great so let’s not ruin the memories.

What happened to cricket's endless summer? Gaping hole in home schedule but there are alternatives

Honestly 5 day tests are mostly a bore. Time to bite the bullet and cut it to 4 days and prepare pitches accordingly.

Pitch perfect: Three-day Tests a small price to pay - batting techniques more to blame for shortened matches

Khawaja s average across the 5 tests was 20. We should not be talking about him playing next summer.

Hoff or Bolo? The pace dilemma brewing for Aussies ahead of Sri Lanka tour, Cummins backs Khawaja for Ashes bid

Of course our selectors first thought when Green returns would be to drop the guy who’s currently averaging 96. I wouldn’t expect anything else.

Every player rated from the fifth Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test: Boland, Beau brilliance shows the Shield still matters

He’ll get there. Has shown the ability to score and quickly already. Sure he needs to temper things just a little and be a tad more selective. But that will come with experience. He’s got some remarkable abilities that most players can only dream of.

'Tough sport played by tough men': Indian coach hits back after McDonald claims they 'intimidated' Konstas

Not to bad coming in at 1 for 39 though. Shame our number 3 and 4 couldn’t at least match it.

Malcolm Conn: Webster and Konstas bring the spirit the Aussies desperately need to rejuvenate line-up

McSweeneys average over those tests still managed to be better than some of the other top 6.
