You’d expect someone with that many grand slams to know how to show a bit of class…rather than throw the toys out of the cot.

Yeah strange way to do it. There’s what, 17 other clubs, wouldn’t you email them all individually and tailor them a bit? The bulk email was lazy.

If they’re fat they probably won’t sleep well, they’ll have sleep apnea
Aussies surely can’t repeat churn and burn McSweeney mistake with Konstas if Head goes to opener
For sure they use m/sec, I am extrapolating them to likely 100 times to give context, and the article was about a 100 time.
Very true about deceleration.

Look at the rankings from 2024. It’s public information. Go to the Athletics Australia website.
10.40 isn’t as fast as sir used to be.

Ok, sons’ squad. And it doesn’t include them.

Who said juniors? The comment I was replying to said people.
However their squad does have one of the elite national coaches.
I did say I’m a bit desensitised because I watch fast guys train regularly. 10.40 speed doesn’t look ridiculously fast.

Pledging allegiance to the King too!
Australia's fastest player set for long-awaited debut in Perth Sevens, ex-captain returns for women
True. But as per above, a lot more people in Aus can run that time than you realise. You’ve also got 5-10 horizontal jumpers who train for jumps and don’t or rarely compete in the 100m, who could likely do it too.
Running sub-10.40 is sort of elite I guess, but I see a lot of people do it, and I guess am conditioned to it. I was in Wollongong when Rohan Browning ran 9.96 (windy), that did look fast!

Nope, a whole lot more. In my boys’ squad alone, there are 4-5.
19 Aussies ran sub-10.40 last season (8 from NSW) and then another 15-20 in the 10.40s.
So if you are talking 10.40s (ie 10.49) or faster, around 40 Aussies ran that last season.

You reckon Isles ran 11.5 m/sec on a rugby field? I highly doubt that. I make no assumptions – you know, it would make an ass out of u and me. I only accept verified information.
Bolt’s top speed ever was 43.99kmh and 11.5 m/sec is 41.4kmh and equates to a 100m time of around 10.18. That is what Isles ran on the track, so I am pretty sure that is his track speed. Not sure on the others, but the Howlett speed is not that impressive even on a rugby pitch. That’s about 12.0 speed, and I’m sure he was a lot faster than that.

Yeah it makes a big difference – as someone in athletics, until they have an official time on a track, I take them all with a grain of salt. He ran that time when 17 years old and I assume in year 11, then focused on rugby I assume and didn’t do athletics outside school.

From what words do you extract that comment?
'Head down, bum up': McKellar distances himself from Wallabies, lays down the law at Tahs
Level headed words. I like this bit (see below), that’s been part of my response to whether footy players should have a drink – do you think Sally Pearson or Jess Hull have a drink after a race every weekend?
“Being really good professionals and what does a good professional look like? That’s your sleep, that’s your diet. It’s the choices you make away from here. We train a lot but we’re only in here very few hours of a week. It’s what you’re doing away from here. They’re the things that I went after.

10.4 m/sec in spikes on an athletics pitch, or 10.4 m/sec in boots on a rugby pitch? If the former, it’s not that fast – maybe it is for rugby players.
He’s quick though, I agree.

“the fastest man in Australian rugby”
Lol – have you timed every player who plays rugby in Australia?
In pro rugby they might have standardised tests, so you might be able to say that. But I know a 10.3 runner who was playing last year and a 10.5 runner. Tonga was quick at school, but his official PB is 10.84 windy (even if it was wet). Also, with all of them, the question is how well you keep your athletics speed when you add the necessary bulk for rugby. That affects everyone differently, and how well can you transfer track speed to the rugby field.
Anyway, the kid is quick and good, looking forward to seeing him play.

Rugby's rotten flaw: Why it's time for World Rugby to protect southern nations from northern raiders
I’m assuming the reason the NH is profiting is this – the NH clubs have more to spend, top players are drawn there for the money, so the residency rules help them.
