Not sure why NQ Rookie of the Year Jaxon Purdue didn’t make it onto the NQ squad list? He is a genuine contender to grab the 7 jersey and if not, is almost certain to be the Cows 14. Jaxon can play half, centre, wing and fullback. Media

Round 1 Predicted Teams: Cowboys - Injuries cause havoc, vacancies out wide and up front

I reckon Skelton makes his way into the 13 for R1.

Round 1 Predicted Teams: Tigers - Centre, lock, second row up in the air but Benji's side looks like rising up ladder

Adam Doueihi would be in the centres if I was selecting.

Hey mate, just saw the news, looks like Des has shifted Foran to the bench, AJ in the halves with Jayden Campbell. Kini to stay at fullback. Didn’t see that one coming 😂

‘A fast learner’: Gordon surging towards NRL debut but there’s an obstacle in former Wallaby’s way

At the start of 2024, Keano Kini had 6 NRL games to his name, 4 off the bench. He was the third choice fullback, played a couple of games in the QCup, but finished as fullback for NZ and a Golden Boot nominee.

I agree AJ can play multiple positions, but I stand by my opinion that on 2024 form, he isn’t a better fullback than Kini. Which is why barring injury, Brimson (or maybe Jayden Campbell) gets the 14 jersey.

The question the Titans will be asking, do they want to pay $800k a season for a bench utility?

If it were me, I’d be cashing out, upgrading some key players and looking for a backrower. They could easily use leftover Brimson money to sign Kobe Hetherington.

To be fair to those trying to keep test cricket relevant, if Australia played summer test series against Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Holland and Ireland, the format would be dead inside a decade. We saw all-time crowd records broken this summer when the best two teams played each other. Fans want to see more that. As do the powerbrokers and sponsors. And if it is only 6 countries, so be it. As long as it is 6 strong, competitive nations. Bradman only played four other countries. He played India, SA and WI just five times each, and England a whopping 37 times.

Test cricket's two-tiered crossroads: Will revenue triumph over fairness?

AJ has a $4m contract. The question the Titans are asking themselves, is he worth it? Kini is on a third the money and is arguably a better fullback. On 2024 form, it isn’t even an argument, Kini killed it.

How often do you see good footy player get old, fall half a yard behind the younger blokes and then resort to cheapshots to stay relevant. Kohli shouldering Konstas has that feel about it.

You mean like how every Kiwi you have met in the past 40 years brings up underarm bowling. With out fail. Every. Single. One.

Agree about Warner, but Kohli has taken the handbrake off and is quickly closing the gap.

From the outside looking in, Kohli strikes me as a first class flog of the highest order.

Kohli will never get to 10,000 runs. The way he is batting, he’d need to play another 2 or 3 years. With India winning just one of their last seven games and Kohli contributing sfa with the bat, I can’t see India persisting with him. For those who are thinking BUT BUT BUT, Kohli got a 100 no in Perth. He sure did, and then averaged 12 runs for the rest of the series.

No doubt Konstas has fully triggered the Indians and in particular, Bumrah and Kholi. Fair respect to Sam considering his age and the pressure of his role, he has embraced the fight and gives as much as he takes. Ironically the extra pace Bumrah was producing against Konstas, is likely what produced the injury to his back.

Pant has the skillset to build a long innings, we just don’t see him do it anymore. Pant scored 159 at this ground in 2019.

The 60 runs were handy, regardless how Pant scores them.

To be honest, I think Australia should stop trying to find reasons to leave Boland out of the squad.

Just on Pant “did he show how to bat in a test?”, kind of yes and no. India didn’t need Pant to score at a 200 strike rate, they weren’t chasing quick runs and have days left to bat. I’m sure they would have traded his 61 off 33 balls for 100 off 200 balls every day of the week. Agree that Starc looks cooked and shouldn’t have played, Jhye Richardson or Sean Abbott should be palying.

When you look at the Konstas innings vs the debutant Webster, Konstas looked like he would get out every ball, while Webster looked like he could bat through the innings. Sam played a very entertaining innings in his first test and he puts bums on seats (me included), but his approach looks to be unsustainable at test level. Happy to be proven wrong, but I doubt I will be..

Positive sign for Bumrah amid injury scare fears, Sharma 'not going anywhere', Border clips 'cocky' Konstas

Lol, what have those blokes ever done in cricket 😂

The Indians have two spinners for a deck that isn’t turning and if Bumrah doesn’t bowl, I will tip the Aussies to run down any decent score. Worth noting at the SCG, Smith averages 69, Labuschagne 73 and Khawaja averages a massive 110. I don’t think they bat as poorly as they did in the first innings.

Alberts was an incredibly quick player that could turn a game, but geez he was lazy.

Knights' greatest team of NRL era: Joey, Gids, Butts are all there, but who misses out?

If you are picking a best-of team, Robbie O’Davis is the better fullback. 223 games for the Knights, 78 tries, 12 Origins, 8 Kangaroo caps, 2x Premiership rings and a Clive Churchill medal. Ponga on the other hand is still getting paid $1.3M for potential and delivered swf. Maybe in ten years time Ponga is the best the fullback for the Knights, but he just aint that today.

Cummins is an exceptional bowler, a very good captain and a better than average bat. But I’m not sure I’d skip straight to “one of our greatest leaders” just yet though. Cummins has been skipper of a very, very good bunch of experienced cricketers. Where Cummins will earn his money and cement his legacy is when we see the inevitable retirement of several aging players. Warner recently pulled the pin, Khawaja (38), Lyon (37), Boland (35), Starc (35), Hazelwood (34) and Smith (35) will likely go in the not too distant future.

Hopefully India can turn the loss around 360 degrees…

'Clearly not out': BCCI heavyweight's bizarre take backs up Gavaskar 'optical illusion' protest over key wicket

BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla would better serve Indian cricket if he stopped talking complete nonsense and instead focused on why India will go on to lose the series. Pant throwing his wicket away at crucial times (averaging just 22) and the captain contributing SWF at the top of the order (averaging 6.5) are glaring issues. And their fielding is barely 3rd grade park standard.
