Here’s how the Melbourne players rated in Sunday night’s grand final.
1. Ryan Papenhuyzen: Took a while to get into the game but was a constant threat with his full throttle runs. While he engineered a great break in the 52nd minute, he wasn’t able to breach the Panthers line for points. 7/10
2. Will Warbrick: Huge metres and huge effort. While he got beaten by Liam Martin in a bomb contest for the Alamoti try, the big winger can hold his his head high. 7/10
3. Jack Howarth: While he dropped the ball in the 42nd minute, he made huge metres and worked really hard. He didn’t miss a tackle. Went so close to scoring in the 49th but was denied. 7/10
4. Nick Meaney: he Panthers ran so much attack at meany, making him perform 27 tackles. They had some success too, with him missing five. He made 140+ metres with a heap of strong runs. 6/10
5. Xavier Coates: A tally of 213 metres and a line break for Storm winger in a very honourable effort. 6/10
6. Cameron Munster: Munster tried his guts out and made huge metres. Ultimately he couldn’t engineer the tries his side needed. He missed the tackle for Martin try and had a drop in the 64th minute. However, he played a strong game and now he needs to clear his name over biting allegations. 6.5/10
7. Jahrome Hughes: A really strong game from the 2024 Dally M Medal winner. He left it all out on the pitch but ultimately wasn’t able to breach the Panthers line. 7/10
8. Tui Kamikamica: Only 18 minutes for the Storm forward. He made just 22 metres and 20 tackles for a quite day out. 4/10
9. Harry Grant: A try in the 23rd minute for the Storm captain and 59 tackles was not enough to get his side over the line. 7/10
10. Josh King: A reasonable effort with 100 metres and 38 tackles. But he missed five tackles and wasn’t able to wrest the advantage for his side up front. 6/10
11: Shawn Blore: An honourable effort albeit one without any decisive impact. Made a costly error in the 55th minute. 5/10

12. Eliesa Katoa: This bloke showed exactly why he was the Dally M second rower of the year. 50 post contact metres, four tackle breaks and 46 tackles. He put on a try saver in the 30th minute, as well as forcing a Dylan Edwards error in the 48th. He’s going to be a superstar. 7.5/10
13. Trent Loiero: A strong effort, particularly in defence. The lock didn’t let anyone down. 6/10
14. Tyran Wishart: In 57 minutes Wishart managed nearly 100 metres and 38 tackles. He injected himself with absolute vigour and looked dangerous. A star of the future. 6/10

16. Lazarus Vaalepu: Came on late and played just 10 minutes. 3/10
17. Alex MacDonald: Dropped the ball with his first touch, but worked really hard in attack and defence. 5/10
