Taking the long view, maybe a year off for Luki and Chester will enhance their careers, being as young as they are. With JT13 he’s had some history with foot issues, but I’m not sure he’s quite cooked yet, some careful management and he’ll hopefully be able to continue playing for a few more seasons.

Cowboys cop triple blow with Taumalolo hobbled by foot injury and two young guns out for season with torn ACLs

This is such a simple fix. Have two ten minute halves of extra time during regular season games. If there’s still no winner it’s a draw.

During finals or SOO games where a clear winner is required have extra time of 20 minutes then have golden point.

Golden point sidelines the spectacle of rugby league - is there a better solution?

If Kristian Wolf can take Tonga all the way to a mauling of Australia it would give him plenty of confidence to take the Phins as far as possible.
Great game.

Fonua-Blake propels Tonga past Kiwis into Pacific final in epic thriller - and Kangaroos should be nervous

Whenever I hear of a $1M contract it usually happens at a club that’s struggling and is having trouble attracting quality players. Walsh is a rare talent but he’s small, he is also tough but I can’t see him being durable enough to be much good after 4 years of top grade NRL. For him this contract is his retirement fund paid early in life, with good management he’s set for life. Somehow I don’t see the Bronco’s getting a good return on their investment if they run out of money to spend on a quality squad with plenty of depth.

'Prime spot to do something special': Walsh becomes highest-paid Bronco EVER with monster new contract

I’d like to see a full season of Mitchell at his absolute peak, just as a footy fan. The bloke has skills but his issues keep getting in the way, sort them and anything is possible.

Souths star faces months on sideline with major injury, Bennett backs Latrell to revive career

Big surprise there.

Madge just shot Bambi - Broncos legend becomes first casualty of new regime

Give it to Daley, at least this time around he won’t have to compete against a half dozen hall of famers and a couple of potential immortals to boot. If NSW arrogance doesn’t get in the way, they’re a good chance of having a long winning run with the players they have.

Why Laurie Daley's day job means he's no safe bet for Origin return

I also thought Edwards was ordinary, at least for the first 20. He looks like he is injured and to be honest I’d say his best footy was last year. Him and Yeo tried to build some combo’s, but it didn’t come off. Thought Manly were very generous allowing TommyT to step out, which he did in style. Moses was rubbish, ln my opinion, about what you’d expect from a bloke who hasn’t played since Origin. The forwards were staunch and the team will only improve from here.

Kanga-rookies kick off new era with a bang but Tonga enhance reputation as rising force to be reckoned with

I’m really looking forward to this year’s GF. Two best teams, two of the best coaches and the two best halfbacks going at it.

Melbourne’s Class of 2024: Latest unsung heroes set to graduate from Nevilles to Norries

With the depth of talent available to NSW and their advantage with a core of guys who’ve played together a lot, they only need an organ grinders monkey to coach them next year. Hey there’s a chance of the Freddy and Brandy show making a comeback.

'It's too hard': Coach of the Year uninterested in juggling club and state duties

Thankyou Ben, Much fretting has been done over the shoulder of Nathan Cleary, which was the part of his body his mother held him by when dipping him in the River Styx, thus rendering it vulnerable.

Love that paragraph, the visuals are doing my head in, every time the magic water and sponge get brought out I’ll be having thoughts of hades and the very young Linda Blair in the Exorcist in 360° headspin mode.

Blowing the whistle on the key to grand final glory: Conning the ref now most important tactic of all

It seems to me that the coaches who demand respect and total commitment from players are the ones who get results on the field. I look at Bennett at Redcliffe with a very shallow depth pool of talent and how they have the desire to perform drummed into them until they win more than lose. Bellamy, Robinson, Cleary, Flanagan and Stewart all have that ol’ skool fire and brimstone style of demanding respect and having accountability to the team. Some coaches are just better tacticians and can spot a problem with a player before it becomes a major issue.

Favourite emerges for vacant Broncos job as Billy rules himself out and Walters makes teary exit

Bloody robbed is Kevvie. They are looking for the problem at the club but he was always the top dog.
We’re lucky with the best singers

Broncos make ruthless call to sack Walters - why they now should be banging down Slater’s door

Cowbies are far too fleet of foot currently, it’s taken them a few stutter starts but once they hold onto the ball they score from anywhere. Thanks in part to finally letting Clifford off the leash, which frees Dearden more often to run the ball, which in turn allows Drinkwater to chime in from broken play. Cronulla aren’t even safe from our attacking forwards, Luki has finally found his niche, Robson, Cotter, Neame and even Nanai if he stays awake will be hammering away all night.

My biggest fear is when Sharks get ball from errors and broken play, we seem to struggle to reset our D and the line has big holes that their big bodies will just stroll through if they get a chance.

NRL Finals Week 2 Tipping: The Roar's expert tips and predictions - Underdogs are not really outsiders

It’s true the Cowbies are pretty comfortable scoring points from all directions and that, in itself will probably be enough to beat Cronulla on Friday. The way we’re continuing to leak points is a real worry and with another sudden death game the following week against Penrith, then season 2024 will finish on a bit of a flat note. Quite a roller-coaster ride this year.

Storm vs Panthers Grand Final isn't a fait accompli: How Cowboys can shoot their way to the top

They’ll need to dial up the defence against Cronulla by a hell of a lot if they hope to win.

Cowboys stuck in Townsville: Travel plans in limbo after fan demand sells out seats on commercial airlines

I don’t think Nicho deserves the level of abuse he gets served, surely as a team game he’s just following the gameplan of the coach, same as everyone else. As far ad match winning plays is concerned, Nathan Cleary was branded a choker for several years at both state and club level due to his inability to ice a game.

I just hope Hynes doesn’t have a blinder on Friday 😉

Sharks resist calls to drop Hynes for playoff but halfback concedes stigma of big-game losses will stick

Saturday evening is the best time for a game in Townsville, gives all the out of towners plenty of time to make it and it’ll be a full house.

NRL Finals Week 1 schedule CONFIRMED: Last-minute changes to avoid AFL clash, bumper crowd for Dogs' drought breaker

From here on out it’s finals footy, whatever that means.
The land of upsets, the insiders know they’re close to backing a winning team. We get to beat Newcastle next week and then it’s on

Looking forward to it.

Five and a Kick: Cowboys emerge as finals dark horses with Dogs rout, Raiders pile on Dragons' misery, Panthers tighten up

So Robinson is silent once again after his Whitehead character assassination. Sualii has again launched himself from almost ground level on a lighter and smaller opponent, leading with his shoulder with direct contact to the head. (First few minutes of the game) and no sanction, Nada, zip, almost like he’s never done it before. Also the Roosters technique of third tackler attacking the knees was really noticeable last night too. Feel sorry for whoever has to play them next week, there will be blood in the water and the likes of JWH, Sualii, are mad enough to not give a rotund rodents rectum, they’re off to different codes .

Round 27 judiciary: Koroisau cops hefty ban for spear tackle, Roosters duo charged, Storm star fined, Kikau pinged

After a harrowing season I think everybody could use some tough love and criticism from a former staffer like Mark Burgess, or anyone that’s been involved at the club really.

Let’s face it Brisbane gets the lions share of advantage and have done so since their formation, with that special status comes a responsibility to be not just successful on the paddock but off it as well. If it means that the occasional dirty laundry gets done in public then I’d say that’s the cost of failure.

'His way or the highway': Former Broncos trainer slams Kevvie, accuses players of being '110 per cent' too pampered

Personally I have very high hopes that the latest edition of Jake Clifford at 7 will be more successful than his last few attempts have been.

But you’re right about Walker and he still has to have surgery then do the better part of a years rehab, might give hi body a chance to bulk out too.

Five and a Kick: Hughes da man as perfect Storm obliterate woeful Broncos - but rising star hobbled for finals

Chooks would have won against the Raiders last week if the two centres fed the ball to their wings In a timely manner. Young had multiple open lines in front of him but Manu wouldn’t pass to him, instead going for half baked kicks that fizzled.

Roosters' goose looks cooked: Robinson’s golden window closes with a whimper

I hadn’t realised just how many possible halves combinations Newcastle have tried and rejected. That would have to be more of a fault with the system than any individual player.

It seems that these days the underachieving teams might have the more complicated game plans and the young fellas are having trouble sticking to that plan while still using their ad-lib skills.

Even if Knights get lucky to make finals it'll only mask deeper issues at under-achieving club

Was a pretty humid night for this time of year, so lots of dew,

Five and a Kick: Roosters’ title hopes look grim after star duo hobbled, Raiders need miracle to leapfrog Knights and Dolphins
