Ive watched him live twice on the GC. He makes his tackles which is always the worry for Union backs in League. Just the volume of work is so much higher.
I like him.
Round 1 Predicted Teams: Titans - Des needs to settle on halves duo, where will ex-Wallabies star get a start?
Brian Kelley . !!!! I have watched this guy fir a long time now and I still can’t tell you if he is an NRL player or OT.
He seems completely disinterested in playing the game at times. Yet at other times he’s a very classy centre. Will the real Brian Kelly please stand up.
These ‘ bi-polar’ footy players drive coaches to the rubbing alcohol.

Great forward pack which should take the Titans a long way.
They are not settled in the halves and while they have extraordinary pace in their backline , there aren’t a lot of hard yards out there. That’s their weakness.
I’m not sure if Gordon can play at 7 but if he can, get him in early and let AJ and Campbell fight it out for 6.
Foran to the bench is the right move.
If this team doesn’t make the 8 the Titans need to Move to Roma.

I think you make top 4 with a small asterisk on the injury front. The Panthers have covered well for almost all injuries in the last 5 years but the current second line of players is not as good as it was. But to still be second favourite in the premiership race after what’s happened in the last 5 years is remarkable.
I still think there is only one other top 4 spot up for grabs and the Broncs, Dogs and Manly look most likely to me.
The rest of us are fighting for scraps.
Round 1 Predicted Teams: Panthers - Three key personnel changes usher in new era as premiers chase five in a row
Absolutely . Halves like DCE, Hughes and Cleary are rare beasts. It’s unlikely they will find another one quickly.
NRL Pressure Gauge: Origin stars, fading veterans, desperate players on final chance - who needs to bounce back in 2025
DCE was top notch in 24. A top 3 half back imo, so I’m not sure what more he can do.

He’s never been a back but he’s the most interesting buy of the season imo. I mean really if Wayne can’t get the kids game straight no one can . But if he does look out.

Sharks are lining up for a top 4 finish again so I guess that makes them premiership contenders.
How far they go in the end really depends on their halves. Nicho leaves me cold as a big match , ‘ make things happen ‘ half back but both Trindall and Atkinson can do it.
They need Nicho to play like Freddie Fittler and leave half back stuff to someone else.
Round 1 Predicted Teams: Sharks - Star recruit puts Cronulla in title contention, rising star set to miss starting spot

That’s a pretty good wrap for the kid. I remember him playing one game for the Raiders against us. He can pass a footy.
Fingers crossed.

Their outside backs look very good. The halves ? Not so much.
I have tipped the Knights to drop out of the 8 this year. It gives me no joy to predict that, and I hope I’m wrong.
Knights fans ( and Tigers fans) are the best in the NRL and I wish them well.
Round 1 Predicted Teams: Knights - Five halves options but no standout playmaker, pack lacks punch
Agree and disagree there Ken. I tipped a Storm v Roosters Final in 2018. As soon as Cronk swapped over I backed the Roosters before a ball was kicked. And again in 2019.
But no I did not pick the emergence of Penrith as a Super team. I am sure one year soon I will be astounded by some other under dog club becoming unbeatable but it won’t be 2025.
Round 1 Predicted Teams: Panthers - Three key personnel changes usher in new era as premiers chase five in a row
I see something worse. A Storm v someone else without a hope in hell Grand Final.
Round 1 Predicted Teams: Panthers - Three key personnel changes usher in new era as premiers chase five in a row
They aren’t favourites at all.
Round 1 Predicted Teams: Panthers - Three key personnel changes usher in new era as premiers chase five in a row
Well in fact they aren’t favourites either with the Bookies or me. I still have them I the 4 but they could miss.
Melbourne are deserved favs, but their odds are about right so you can’t back them. They are certainties for minor premiers, almost certain grand finalists and likely GF winner.
RL is becoming very predictable.
Round 1 Predicted Teams: Panthers - Three key personnel changes usher in new era as premiers chase five in a row
Unfortunately I agree with you . So that means three new teams in the 8. Here I think we will disagree.
I have 3 QLD clubs moving up ( with South’s a chance as well ). I could be a great judge or possibly just extremely biased.
Round 1 Predicted Teams: Raiders - Ricky rejigs roster with young talent but key spine positions up for grabs
Tough question. He is still very young and has improvement in him. I watched him play quite a bit last year and even though his team was winning well he didn’t light my candles.
He seems to be a very programmed half. You certainly couldn’t say he plays eyes up footy.
Perdue is the opposite. His kicking game is not great yet but he sees the game really well . The kid can tackle to.. He’s ahead in my mind but it’s early days.
Round 1 Predicted Teams: Cowboys - Injuries cause havoc, vacancies out wide and up front
Tommy Gilbert is the key to an improved performance from the Phins. He is what every pack needs.
Add in Plath who has a similar attitude and things look good.
If they had Fleg they are top they are top 8 certainties. without him i still think they scrape in.
Round 1 Predicted Teams: Dolphins - Woolf hungry to win after Wayne’s exit, plenty of bite in new-look pack
Magnificent try. The silliest thing you could ever do to Lockyer was rush up at him . He was the clutch play king.
One-hit wonders: From prolific try-scorers to heavyweights and even fighters, the Dragons who never got a second game
I’m with you Albo. One big man and a half back short of top 4 imo. Still they will go close.
Round 1 Predicted Teams: Bulldogs - Sexton needs to kick on, wing up for grabs, rising star could be benched
I’m actually really excited for the year to start. I’m really looking forward to Laybutt having a good crack in the centres. Can’t wait to see Tommy D back after his outstanding Pacific’s series
I can’t wait for Perdue to get a few more games under his belt and I want to see if Nanai can return to the form I know he is capable of . Alsl can’t wait to see Hess back in the colours. We have missed him.
That doesn’t stop me being a Payten sceptic though . I still haven’t made up my mind.
The Hammer loss was down to his love of Hiku and Drinkwater. The playing of Townsend long after it was apparent Cotter was the much better option was ridiculous. Add in recruiting Leilua , Grosefski, Tanoa Brown, ( I know I’ve spelt the last 2 wrong but I can’t be bothered looking it up) and now Bateman and Jackson Paulo?
I truly haven’t made up mind on Payten because as you say we have a top 4 finish and a 5th under him which is not too shabby. But I am worried.
Round 1 Predicted Teams: Cowboys - Injuries cause havoc, vacancies out wide and up front
I’m with you on almost all of that Robbo. Look at Coboys history. Early days we had very few local guys and were stacked full of old rejects from NSW clubs. Wooden Spoons followed.
Then slowly we brought through our own. Bowen, Payne, Bowman, Hannay, Singh, Williams, Jensen and hey success.
Same with the 2015 side.
It’s impossible in the modern era to have a complete team of players from NQ or CQ but we need a solid core of these guys and a few quality imports.
Payten is shopping at the Reject Store for RL players.
Round 1 Predicted Teams: Cowboys - Injuries cause havoc, vacancies out wide and up front
I agree. I’ve got a lot of time for this kid. Thrown in at centre last year , where he had never played and didn’t look out of place at all.
I want him to get a real crack at 7 but I know we will go with Cliffo early on. .
Round 1 Predicted Teams: Cowboys - Injuries cause havoc, vacancies out wide and up front
My mates would say yours is a real one Nat and mine only pretend. In the Territory if it’s not Salt Water it don’t count.
I’ll tell you, a 110 Saltwater fish would pull mine backwaters to Timbuktu.
Round 1 Predicted Teams: Cowboys - Injuries cause havoc, vacancies out wide and up front
I would keep one of the big 3 props on the bench (probably Mo), thats more balanced. Fermor is just hitting his straps and is a gun. Hopefully Tino shames Fifita into action as well.
Verills is only average but i have some time for Randall and the Titans have a very good young one who wont be ready this year but he is good.
If Desi cant find a way for this team to win 60 percent of their games , give it up.
