Josh Addo-Carr has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the Parramatta Eels, just weeks on from having his lucrative contract with Canterbury torn up after the speedy winger returned a positive roadside drug test.

The former NSW Blues representative reportedly forfeited $500,000 on the remaining season of his deal with the Bulldogs. He was part of a resurgent Canterbury outfit that returned to finals football in 2024 but were knocked out at the first time of asking by Manly in the elimination final.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity Parramatta and Jason have given me to continue my footy career and I’m ready to repay the faith they’ve shown in me,” Addo-Carr said.

“Coming here is a chance for me to start a new chapter, prove myself and show what I can do for the Club and the fans.  I can’t wait to put on the Blue and Gold and become a part of this Club and the Eels community.”

The 29-year-old joins the Blue and Gold amid a state of flux under new coach Jason Ryles, who is undergoing a significant revamp of the roster he inherited from ex-coach Brad Arthur.

Veteran Reagan Campbell-Gillard has departed western Sydney for the sunny Gold Coast, while former captain Clint Gutherson was also allowed to leave and has been headhunted to play a key role in Shane Flanagan’s rebuild at St George Illawarra.

“I’ve had the privilege of working with Josh before, and I know firsthand just how much he brings to a team—his speed is electric, and his ability to break open games is second to none,” Ryles said.

“What’s even more important is his commitment. Josh is a player who has always been determined to improve and challenge himself, and I’m confident he will make the most of this opportunity with our Club.”
