GG & Baz – Bateman lost a LOT of respect when he (and his agent Isaac Moses) decided to use 2019 grand final week to agitate for a contract upgrade and threaten to walk away from his Raiders deal with 2 years remaining. In grand final week. That showed a lot of people a side they didn’t like too much and really poisoned the great affection Raiders fans had for him.
The Tigers’ season was done and he couldn’t give any value when he left, but the cynic in me thinks they let him go to the UK because they hoped he wouldn’t come back…

eJ – Remember what happened to Crichton after that tackle? He got suspended 1 week. Annesley admitted if should have been a sinbin, the referees involved in that decision on field and in the bunker were all demoted.

One of my 2 sporting certainties is this: The AFL grand final will be played at 5.15pm within the next 2 years. Having been to both day and night grand finals (and a 5.15 start for the Geelong game last weekend) the night games are miles, miles better for the key games of the year and the ratings will follow.
For the record, my other sporting certainty is that NRL games will be played in 20-minute quarters before the end of the next broadcast deal…

It’s always been interesting BG – AFL finals series are usually 8 incredible games topped by a total bludger of a grand final, while the NRL finals series is usually 8 total bludgers and an incredible grand final!

I had a piece about the hip drop but I cut it cos I was waffling so I’m glad you brought it up – it was a really bad one and NAS was lucky he didn’t end up badly hurt. Radley gets a $3k fine with an early plea, I’m with you that it should have been a couple of weeks.
