Wests Tigers have continued their end-of-year clean-out with Jayden Sullivan offloaded to South Sydney but the young halfback could be on his way back.

Sullivan was unwanted by the Tigers after he struggled in his first season at the club after switching from St George Illawarra with rookie Lachlan Galvin shining in the halves.

With star recruit Jarome Luai to join Galvin as the first-choice playmakers next season, Sullivan has been granted a release to link with the Rabbitohs for 2025.

But he still could return to the Tigers for the final two years of his lucrative contract, reportedly worth $700,000 a season, as part of the deal between the two clubs, as reported by The Daily Telegraph

He also has the flexibility to remain at the Rabbits for the remainder of his deal if the club wants to keep him around or return to the Tigers after 2026 to play out the final season of his contract in the black, white and gold.

Souths have put Sullivan through a medical check-up and he is likely to link with them when pre-season training resumes after the Christmas break.

Since his debut with the Dragons in 2020, the 23-year-old has played 36 NRL games but just nine for the Tigers last season.

The Bunnies need back-up in the halves after Lachlan Ilias switched to the Dragons with English young gun Lewis Dodd to be given first crack at the No.7 jersey alongside veteran five-eighth Cody Walker.

The Tigers allowed Kiwi international Isaiah Papali’i to leave a year early to take up a long-term offer with Penrith and missed out on retaining prop Stefano Utoikamanu after he joined Melbourne.

They released English forward John Bateman earlier this week to the Cowboys after he underperformed at Concord and was allowed to return to the UK late in the season for a short-term loan to Warrington.

Luai, Panthers teammate Sunia Turuva, Dragons utility Jack Bird and Roosters prop Terrell May head up an impressive list of recruits who will be part of Benji Marshall’s squad in 2025.
