We can’t win it without him.

I’m visualizing a Clive Churchill.

Round 1 Predicted Teams: Sharks - Star recruit puts Cronulla in title contention, rising star set to miss starting spot

Realistically who was going to put points on let alone beat the Storm or Penrith in the Finals ?

76 put on the Raiders in 2 meetings, wouldn’t be bold enough to put them in the weaker team category.

Round 1 Predicted Teams: Sharks - Star recruit puts Cronulla in title contention, rising star set to miss starting spot

Bonza, with Nicho have faith.
True Believer.

The side was leading the comp and he was leading the Dally M when he went down and they werent and he wasn’t when he came back.

He’s too good a player to spit out like that without a solid chance of proving the doubters wrong… first up against the Premiers !

Round 1 Predicted Teams: Sharks - Star recruit puts Cronulla in title contention, rising star set to miss starting spot

Over the duration of the regular season the Sharks scored more points than Penrith and had less points scored against them than Melbourne.

They played 9 games without Ponga last year.

Won 5 and lost 4 (Storm Panthers Dogs and Manly) all finished ahead of them on the table and wouldn’t have beaten any of that lot even with Ponga.

Round 1 Predicted Teams: Knights - Five halves options but no standout playmaker, pack lacks punch

Gagai had possibly his best season ever in ‘24 picking up both club player of the year and players player of the year.

He was sensational.

He was significantly responsible for the rise of both Young and Sharpe.

At SOO level, won’t argue, but at club level, he’s killing it.

Round 1 Predicted Teams: Knights - Five halves options but no standout playmaker, pack lacks punch

It’s not an unusual ploy for teams lacking adequate alphas in the middle to throw the ball wide and early to their true strength, the back 5, even in their own red zone to counter that.
Sharks did it effectively (till Nicho’s injury) and with arguably one of the best in the NRL, so did and will, the Knights.
Made the 8 despite most clubs behind them having better packs and better halfs, Ponga missing 1/3 of the regular season and Best missing 7 games and playing injured for just as many.
Sharks have fixed their alpha problem and their best player will start the season far fitter and fans with GF expectations.
Knights haven’t, but their best player, with a full off season of preparation behind him, staying fit, and the continuing upper trajectory of Lucas, Sharpe and KPP, will get them as far as last year in the interim.

No argument about Penriths D.

But Tago had more than a couple of really bad misses during the year which aren’t reflected in that stat.

Note ASU’s first couple of years badly damaged his overall.

Anyway just wonder what he’d look like surrounded by quality players.

Round 1 Predicted Teams: Panthers - Three key personnel changes usher in new era as premiers chase five in a row

How significant is that number considering Tago is mid 80’s (TE) and your grandmother could get by him.

Like to see Asu Kepaoa somehow get a run in the backrow sometime this year to gauge his true skills.

Wouldn’t be tipping them in R1.

Very glad that things are working out personally for you AL and the best of luck to you and your Dragons this year !

We’ll learn more about the coach’s plan for Nicho thru the trials. I’m not letting a couple of months of average form clutter my opinion of what I know what he brings to this team from the front line (A Dally M with the widest winning margin in the history of the award).

He’s a special player, our best player when directing with confidence, and he’ll be our 6 but play both sides.

Absolute confidence in him and the continued development of Trindall !

'Leaked within minutes': Agent slams NRL clubs after Eels star shopped to rivals

10 years ago the club beat the Storm to win it’s first ever.
Nicho gets mentally and physically back to anywhere near where he was prior to last year, a rookie fullback gets first shot at fullback and AFB commandeering the pack very very confident for the first time in exactly a decade that it’s on again !

It’s going to be a fun watch !

Parra effectively forced Gutho out of the club (despite playing seriously injured) then encouraged their club player of the year to shop himself around to suit their own needs, but when the reverse comes around, bang, whine about how such a horrible thing could happen.

Isn’t the manager shopping at the club’s request ?

They may have danced with Wayne after some early success last season but not nearly enough growl in that wolf pack to dance with Kristian.

Round 1 Predicted Teams: Dolphins - Woolf hungry to win after Wayne’s exit, plenty of bite in new-look pack

Thought McIntyre did a good job cleaning up last yr.

Round 1 Predicted Teams: Cowboys - Injuries cause havoc, vacancies out wide and up front

Keeping it painfully real, next season doesn’t look good.

Major influencer Tommy D. will feel the loss of Val and Luki like no other member of that team and will be singled out and battered from opponents both sides of the ball every single game.. with a domino collapse damaging Murray T.’s potency and Drinkwater’s isolation.

This time last year we were excited about a breakout season in front of Griffin Neame.
Didn’t happen.

Mclean will be 35 mid season and now carries the same venom as David Klemmer.

A lot of the pack are injury magnets and the young saviours are coming back from major surgeries.

Still, Purdue, Derby and Laybutt in particular stepping up are essential for a mid table finish.

Regardless for putting them in this position Todd P. has reached his shelf life and the club should be given back to the Nth Qlders.

Round 1 Predicted Teams: Cowboys - Injuries cause havoc, vacancies out wide and up front

Douhei is the only accomplished GK in the 17 he has to start… and the fact that Naden isn’t at this level.

Round 1 Predicted Teams: Tigers - Centre, lock, second row up in the air but Benji's side looks like rising up ladder

The number of authorative premium quality paid props seems to vastly outnumber halfs and hookers going into this season across the 17 clubs Tony.

Bit of juggling going on there regarding positional importance.

Rating each NRL club’s spine: The usual heavyweights are strong again, but the wooden spooners could shock in 2025

Getting Jai Arrow back into this run on side injury free stiffens this club right up.

Aitken reportedly out for the first month gives Tallis in a make or break year to continue in the 12 and Jai keeps Murray’s 13 warm.

Thomas Fletcher needs some trial form to sneak into that mix and Schuster to unlock some Spartan fight.

Round 1 Predicted Teams: Rabbitohs - Bennett faces major selection headaches, will new half work and can Latrell fire?

I’m not going to get into a slanging match but an article appeared here in ‘23 ‘over rated stats’ by MMW which was an interesting forum for ideas on their worth.

A constant theme of responders was taking them (stats) in context and in conjunction with other cause/effect elements…which you just don’t get without a primary source account ie personal observation. None of which you’ve done.

Basically I don’t think any argument on a player’s worth holds any credence if it’s based entirely around stats on a metric (an unquantfiable one) that have been cut and pasted and void of any significant personal eyewitness account.

If you do, well good for you.

Round 1 Predicted Teams: Dragons - half a headache for Flanagan to reach finals

Are you two intentionally trying to trigger the stat sheet commandos ?

Round 1 Predicted Teams: Eels - Ryles taking huge gamble with key spot, pack lacks depth and hooker still a worry

I don’t know if I. Longi has got the fullback spot locked up yet.

Joash Papal’i could be the smokey he looked very smart in the trials last year, be a good watch in the trials.

Charley Guymer is another one who impressed before injury got him.

Round 1 Predicted Teams: Eels - Ryles taking huge gamble with key spot, pack lacks depth and hooker still a worry

You didn’t read what was written.
No one’s doubting last season ‘his best season ever’.

Unfortunately it’s the previous 5 years in the NRL which has rightfully earned him the tag where he obviously had the ability but not the ‘representative attitude’ to win over selectors.

Anyone with 2 eyes open ?
You mean like this site’s entire Dragon fan base, not even a single one of them has rushed into support that whopper.

Have you seriously, be honest here, watched the overall majority of Zac’s NRL career and believe he’s been a stand out in every game ?
