Ken Hinkley has been coaching the Power since 2013 and in that time has shown himself to be a master coach, reinventing the team on a number of occasions and playing in a total of seven final series.
The Power have made it into the preliminary final on three occasions Including this year when they lost to Sydney by six goals but have yet to make it to the grand final under Hinkley’s reign, giving him the unwanted distinction of having coached more games than any other coach who has failed to make the big dance.
Port Adelaide seem to have broken even over the trade period with the loss of four prominent, ageing players being replaced by three with potential to fill trouble spots.
Amongst the four players lost, there is no doubt that Dan Houston (No.19) who was traded to Collingwood was the biggest loss.
Charlie Dixon (No.26) gave the Power good service after a career at Gold Coast where he still remains No.40 on the Top 100 game players list, and No.9 on the Top 100 Goal Scorers list. Trent McKenzie (No.85) also served Gold Coast well and ranks No.7 games and No.44 goals at the Suns but neither he nor Tom Clurey (No.44) played a game for the Power in 2024.
