Regardless of any clarifications that might be made it’s hard to see the relevance of any of this BS to any team’s performance next year. Just seems to be an easy way to become a Roar ‘Guru’ – flood the site with multiple articles, all of which add up to sweet FA.

AFL Top 100: Without Daniher, do Brisbane have the firepower needed to go back-to-back?

Should have been merged with another club years ago, they just go from bad to worse despite all the concessions they receive. A deadweight on the competition – I’d love to see them cut loose. Their supporters can still support them in the VFL, what’s the problem?

North Melbourne pressure gauge 2025: With Longmire back on the market, is Clarko running out of time?

If Maxi had been given half the chances Mitch Marsh was granted he’d almost certainly have taken his opportunities (moreso than MM at least) and could have potentially played 100+ tests – his FC record certainly shows the potential. And given his style he would likely have become a match winner a la Head. Still hard to fathom that he was never given an opportunity to play a Test in home conditions and barely given a chance to succeed in the few matches he was selected being shuffled up and down the order.

Selectors slam door shut on four Test careers after finally looking to the future with new-look tour squad

And sometimes people are disgusted by pneumatic airheads who thanks to their obsession with surgical ‘perfection’ resemble caricatures of human beings and despair at the state of the world where anyone would consider such grotesquerie as anything other than an abomination. And a state of affairs whereby the media/society would enable such a creature to become an ‘influencer’ earning their money directing and dictating the impressionable minds of the young with their poisonous vacuities. These ‘people’ are at the very least a worthy target of derision – along with those who enable/support/defend them.

'Worn super thin': Larkey ready for Roos to rise, Soldo's seamless return squashes Port grudges

He’s now reliant on experience, desire and a little luck. Should get him through to the end of the Ashes now. Even if he’s not what he once was he’s shown he can still be worth his place.

Malcolm Conn: Head and Smith deliver in very different ways but a couple of teammates need salvation

Boland is international standard but the only like for like bowler he replaces is Hazlewood – Cummins and Starc both have an x-factor that keeps them ahead of him when they are fit. And Hazlewood is, as already noted by Tempo, a class above Boland, as good as he is. Sometimes there’s just too many players of a good enough standard to fit them all in the team – look at the class batsmen who didn’t get a run or only had a limited run in the 90s/00s. Similarly, there’s a number of bowlers over the past decade who could have made the grade as well who haven’t even had the limited chances Boland has. I think the general point about rotating bowlers is a good one though – the consistency of the current quartet is remarkable – and I think we’ll be seeing that more and more in the coming years – just a bit too late for Boland, unfortunately for him, but he’s still made a great contribution for Australia and will have proud achievements to look back upon when his career is over.

Hazlewood is not an automatic selection when fit, so stop treating Boland like a sub - he is far better than that

If Smith is dropped he won’t come back at his age. For mine he has three tests left to re-establish some sort of form. If he doesn’t make significant runs in those matches and particularly if Australia lose the series he should be done. However, these selectors have shown remarkable leniency (putting it mildly) with the older brigade of batsmen so it wouldn’t surprise me if he continues until the return of Green forces their hand.

This summer has 1984/85 written all over it – not in style but in substance

Test mortem: Indian selectors teach Aussies a lesson, slow over rates a farce and Marnus’ half-trackers fully ridiculous

Without directly referencing what has or hasn’t happened here I am unmoved from my firmly held opinion that Clarkson is a lowlife grub – an opinion first formed watching ‘The Battle of Britain’ and never given reason to change. The worst of what has been alleged wouldn’t surprise me.

If Starc doesn't get you, Hazlewood must: Why current duo now Australia's greatest new-ball pair of all time

“…plugging Australia’s David Warner-sized hole…” Yuck!

If Starc doesn't get you, Hazlewood must: Why current duo now Australia's greatest new-ball pair of all time

Just ask Kevin Pietersen – that delivery that broke KP’s ribs and sent him home for the rest of McGrath’s last summer was vicious. He’d summed up KP’s open-chested technique and perfectly delivered a ball specifically designed to injure him badly.

Ha ha – it’s all so funny (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) how the big Victorian teams get advantaged year after year. Some of us are sick of it – the competition is run by Victorians for Victorians – will it ever emerge from this provincial mindset? Not without being held to account – you would think The Roar might take a lead on this rather than enjoying the joke. And the best idea the geniuses at HQ can come up with for developing the comp up North? The laughable Round Zero which again manages to benefit the Victorian clubs involved by giving them extra byes – SOIA!

AFL fixture winners and losers: Cats' latest dream run home, is North's WA deal a disaster waiting to happen?

Round 0 is such a groan inducing piece of stupidity as a marketing promotion – the only reaction they’ll be getting in the Northern states is confirmed acknowledgement of the AFL’s idiocy. Here’s a hint – however many teams are playing, call it Round 1. At the very least let’s hope there’s not a repeat of the situation where some teams have had two bye rounds before others get their first.

I don’t think it’s unfair to surmise from this whole saga that Davey’s a little thick.

'Why wouldn't I say yes?' Warner opens up on offer to un-retire for Test summer - 'I don't turn down a game for Australia'

Rohit and Virat both looked mentally shot against the Kiwis . Given their records they’re tough guys to drop – one or both missing for whatever reason could have a silver lining for India.

I appreciate that but I can’t see Scott or the Cats being stupid enough to do something so obviously shonky that it couldn’t pass AFL scrutiny.

AFL investigating Scott's new role with major Cats sponsor

So what? Chief of leadership and performance – sounds like a couple of motivational speeches a year. It’s a commercial arrangement no different to a player or coach appearing in an advertisement or having other business dealings outside the game.

For a team that has never played finals, never had a positive win-loss season and has the lowest membership in the league the Gold Coast sure have tickets on themselves. They had about the easiest draw imaginable last year and still managed to screw up their lines. Maybe they make it this year? I wouldn’t be counting on it.

AFL News: 'Lack of passion' led to Stephenson's retirement at just 25, Suns' prime-time request, should draft age be raised?

I always find it odd that people – not just you SCG, it seems widespread – remember Steve Waugh as being on the decline in the final stages of his career. The media was hounding him no doubt but the guy was still churning them out. Go onto Statsguru on cricinfo and check it out. His career ended in the New Year test 2004. From Jan 1 2003 until the end he averaged 76.61, extend that back to Jan 1 2002 it’s 51.85, from Jan 1 2001 it’s 52.13. Sure some of those runs were against weaker teams but you can only play what’s in front of you and statistically he was still in great shape with the bat.

Smith switch makes sense but past master no longer Australia’s rock as question marks abound over batting line-up

In my opinion he’s never been Test class and the opportunities he’s been given are obscene – I’ve never seen anything from him to change that opinion. He’s a chancer that gets lucky now and again.

Malcolm Conn: Warner's owed an apology - he's still Australia's most attractive option for opener

The guy is in his mid-30s and is taking up a space where a younger player who has a chance of averaging 40+ (career) should be/should have been finding his feet at the top level. He’s played a couple of decent innings since being recalled in the Ashes but usually offers chances any time he makes 50+ and even with that recent run of form his average has barely ticked over 30 for his career. It will fall below 30 again this summer with India in town, I have no doubt.
