Storm in teacup. Cut Charley some slack. These guys spend decades of their lives dreaming of winning a flag, devoting everything to that cause. And then they win one, and get to go up on the podium and get a medal from some random kid, and in his desire to express himself, rules and etiquette are forgotten for that second. Would Charley like to do it again? Probably. Not doing that does not make him a bad guy
Question, is the medal ceremony for the players or the kids? I doubt if kid will be traumatised by not shaking Charley’s hand, or others where hat is put on backward, or falls off etc, like some did. Kid may not have even noticed the lack of handshake. They’ve just experienced a gf, they are on the ground with star players, seeing idols maybe, the crowd roaring, I cannot imagine a handshake or not is gonna change their day one iota!
I’d do it without handshake in an instant!
