Geelong midfielder Tanner Bruhn has been questioned by police over his knowledge of an alleged sexual assault in February last year.

According to the Herald Sun, Bruhn and another man were interviewed last Thursday at Geelong police station by the Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team in relation to the incident in Geelong suburb Belmont on February 5, 2023.

Neither man was arrested.

“Police have interviewed two men as part of an investigation into an alleged sexual assault in February 2023,” a police spokesperson told the Herald Sun.

“The men were released pending further investigation into the matter.”

AFL spokesperson Jay Allen told the newspaper the league was not able to comment.

“As it is a Victoria Police investigation, we are not in a position to make any further comment at this time,” Allen said.

Bruhn, 22, crossed to Geelong in the 2022 AFL Trade Period after two seasons at GWS, where he was drafted with pick 12 of the national draft, famously looking despondent on draft night after his name was read out by the Giants.

Having grown up in the city, attended Geelong Grammar and played NAB League football for the Geelong Falcons, the hometown product has played 36 games since making the switch, including the Cats’ 2024 qualifying and preliminary finals.

He received a career-high seven Brownlow votes in 2024, including his first three-vote performance against Hawthorn on Easter Monday.
