The great strength of T20 over ODIs is the role bowlers can play. In ODIs a bowler who takes 0 for 25 is worth more than a bowler who takes 5 for 70. That has always been a weakness of ODIs. Nothing for the bowlers. However, in T20 there is a strong role for bowlers. Two overs with few runs can change the course of a game. Also appealing in T20 v ODIs is the judicious use of spinners. They can really tie down an innings immediately after batters have been accustomed to pace. T20s should replace all ODIs on all calendars within the next five years.

ODIs are dead. T20 is now the internationally popular abridged form of cricket.

Since the Border/ Gavaskar Trophy was established India have won ten series and Australia five with one drawn. A two to one advantage to India. If that were the Ashes results since 1996 Australian Cricket would be regarded as in a total crisis. Time to wake up! A series against India is at least the equal, if not a greater challenge, than the Ashes.
