They have been getting good players in the draft.. this year I think they nailed it… they have a better-than-average coach.. could be another development year.. but I think they will show some good signs..

AFL Top 100: Can Steele and Sinclair join elite Saints goal-kickers in 2025?

Agreed, but I am intrigued by this year’s draft picks. I think Finn Sullivan should have been there first pick. Smilie is well overrated.. mainly by himself. It’s interesting to see how it plays out.. maybe they got 1-2 players in the job lot .. into the top 100, but not sure it will be there first two picks.

AFL top 100: How quickly can Yze rebuild despite mass exodus of elite Tigers?

Yep, no spine. I thought with this year’s draft picks they would take the Whitlock boys. Instead, they went small.. very small. I remember they took Ling over Richards – when one looked at any tape at the time it shows you Richards was always the winner.

AFL Top 100: Gulden, Rowbottom could rise as post-Longmire era starts

Reid is going. Both are restricted so a trade has to be done. If you look at Reid – he came back after what was clearly an enjoyable time off. Then because he was underprepared that probably made him sloppy – perhaps a reason or factor in why gets concussed. not as quick-witted and alert as usual. He is now out of a full pre-season. He will enjoy Christmas, come back more over-cooked.. and start training properly mid jan.. the Lad has moved in his mind to Victoria already. Reid will do some special things but have an average year, he is one foot out the door already.

Great home and away coach, one of the best. Incredibly well handled by club and Longmire.

'Not sure I can get through': Longmire reveals he scuppered original handover date as bombshell resignation confirmed

Finn O’Sullivan long term to be the best player from the top 10 of this year’s draft. Smilie to be the spud from the top 10. The best player from the draft long-term will come from outside the top 10.

Special Talents: The best AFL Draft prospect for every position - and who'd be perfect for your club

Very bizarre if true. Timing of release strange as well. Lions had a great week until this.

'That happy it's not funny': Daniher's father weighs in on bombshell retirement rumours

I think a player – must be going to them… come out in trade period… it seems strange.. the whole Owies saga.. – the Lackie Shultz delusion!

AFL Grand Final TEAMS: Swans make call on tall, confirm replacement skipper as Lions lock in Big O's back-up

Will the Umpires cripple the Swans again, will Brisbane tire in the 4th, Can Heeney get off the leash.. Will Darcy Fort prove to be a match winner.. Is Neale the toughest foot soldier going around.. Going to be a cracker.

AFL Grand Final TEAMS: Swans make call on tall, confirm replacement skipper as Lions lock in Big O's back-up

2005 & 2006 were epics. Tight – multiple lead changes, went down to the wire. A Battler against a Ferrari..

Every grand final of the 2000s, ranked first to 25th: Which classic is 'the most underrated decider in footy history'?

No argument from me. The people that tend to steal them (which seems to happen quite often) would get confused when trying to give them back if there is too many issued.

COMMENT: Awarding premiership medals to the entire winning squad would ruin them for everyone

If you based it on key position players. Brisbane wins. That seems to be most impactful in GF’s. The pack mark makes a difference.

Sydney have the better stars, Brisbane have more - who will rise on Grand Final day?

It is interesting if Longmire had played McDonald two years ago. Instead of Reid which was a hail mark mistake from inception – would the more experienced McDonald be better for this week.

AFL Grand Final Teams: Swans set to play McDonald in decider, but still sweating on Mills fitness

I think it shows more the lack of depth at Carlton. Without a flag he is another Joe the goose. Will Look good on the mantle piece one day.

'He also broke the record': Cripps' classy Daicos tribute after claiming second Brownlow, shattering record with 45 votes

Next week, no losers. Two teams that rightfully deserve a flag. If finals consistency is the key Brisbane wins, if mercurial players stand up for Sydney.. then it is theirs… 2006 since last GF with no Victorian teams.. which is exciting in itself.. bring it on. The big O will be missed.

Finals Fix: Brain fades, bonkers moments and a winning goal for the ages - how a stone cold classic was won (and lost)

Agreed port are not chokers. Essendon closest we have got.

Finals Fix: Port came with a plan to take down the Swans - and it backfired spectacularly

I think sometimes a good coach can hide deficiencies in a team. Hinkley is one of them. I am not saying Hinkley is a great coach. But he seems to get the best out of his players consistently. Means they win a few games other miss and make finals.

Finals Fix: Port came with a plan to take down the Swans - and it backfired spectacularly

Whenever Sydney has finished Premiers – they have not won the flag, last 20 odd years.

Sicily you have not won a premiership. If that is your rating measure. A lot of glass houses. If Hinkley is a spud… Your both in the same boat. Hawks better walk next year. Less talk.

AFL News: 'Need to grow up' - Ginnivan opens up on Insta taunt as Sicily sledge to Hinkley revealed, Eagles star claims B&F

Objectively on in and outs – Geelong is a bit stronger, Swans a bit weaker. Port Stronger. Brisbane the same.

AFL preliminary final TEAMS: Cats' shock sub choice as veteran's snub confirmed

Correct. They came from very dodgy beginnings.

For the love of god Brisbane, end this Cats nightmare

As indicated. He provides financial stability.

For the love of god Brisbane, end this Cats nightmare

I think frank costa played a huge role in setting up the club for ongoing success He created a family friendly type of environment. Stability. A financial fall back position. Made everyone feel special and protected. The legacy has been created.

For the love of god Brisbane, end this Cats nightmare

Not sure any club will chase bevo. He is too erratic.

Is this Port's perfect situation? Burning questions ahead of AFL preliminary finals

Longmire won his flag off Paul Roos game plan… a bug bear of mine. Then two grand finals where the game was over at the 20 minute mark of the first quarter – not great. Hinkley and Longmire are brilliant home and away coaches. Final coaches for both I am less confident on.. Longmire should have won 1 or 2 with buddy… had the cattle. Port have put themselves in great spots at end of home and away and then belly flopped. I think for this one Port are 100% in a great position – nothing to lose and against a team that is only now trying to put its best footy together. The Swans lost to Richmond under the same pressure that Port brought last week against Ginnivan. If Port bring same pressure they can win, as Swans haven’t coped all year with unrelenting pressure. If Port relent for 30 minutes,, that should be enough for the Swans. On Geelong / Brisbane. It will be easier. Chris Scott will out coach Fagan – we will work it out after game is over. He is like having a 19yth man on the field. I believe geelong only have the 8th or 9th most talented list… but they are as good as anyone to win the flag. Swans v Geelong – epic as a re-match. Brisbane v Port would be great as one coach gets all monkeys off back. Bring it on…
