The NRL is the NSWRL but the S & W are now silent but influential.
They have never been supportive of the Raiders and put crap on us all the time. Robinson and the Roosters have long been protected species.
From a Rooster trainer illegally interfering with play (he should not have been on the field and walked off with a huge grin on his face because he saved a try) to the Sydney referee forgetting he waved for and called 6 again we were robbed of the 2019 title.
Raiders should quit the comp because they are never going to get a fair break.

NRL’s silence on Robinson's unsubstantiated Whitehead outburst is weak gutted and hypocritical

If Channel 10 lasts another 5 years then this is a good deal. No other broadcaster was interested in the dollars required for football content.
Channel 10 is probably on their last legs.
Channels 7 and 9 have both been undergoing severe cost cutting and revenues have been falling dramatically.
Every streaming/broadcasting company needs content but budgets only run so far.
In 2010 7, 9 and 10 commenced their “minor” channels like 9 Gem, 7 mate etc. To add say 7 Mate, channel 7 need to DOUBLE their content, going from one channel to 2 – this costs money. But the idiots in charge thought “hey, we’ll get double the ad revenue” – as if the magic revenue genie would suddenly give companies extra money to spend on broadcast tv ads.
The future of tv will be limited to ABC and SBS, while streaming companies will, due to financial reasons, consolidate – as they say “follow the money” – without $$$ you can’t buy content.

Here's why five more years of football on Ten is good news for the game

“Pampered sooks” in the AFL can only refer to one club – St Kilda.
The most embarrassing professional sporting organisation in the history of planet earth with one premiership in 151 years – pathetic.
Yet still the AFL give them extra funds to keep the rotting body alive.
If the Saints had an ounce of decency they would disband and free up tens of millions to put into the Tassie team.

Yes Doc, it could get worse.
We could, but probably won’t, end up like St Kilda.

Willy Wanker is President of the FA, due to political “sensibilities” no major decisions are made by the FA unless his office concurs.
The 2020 vote for Columbia was based on the English govt wanting better Central America/Caribbean relationships given the number of Commonwealth countries there. Willy and the Rake tried a “victory tour” in 2022 and nearly got kicked out :))))
The 2010 vote was England vote swapping with the USA – things “special relationships” require and actually not legal under FIFA rules.

We need to win and put the English in their place.

In 2010 the FA voted against Australia getting the 2022 men’s World Cup.
The President of the FA, who approved the way the FA voted, was “Prince” William, the treachorous moron.
Come on Matildas, humiliate England and send a message that we will no longer put up with their abusive raltionship.

“There is no sadder club in the history of VFL/AFL football” ???
That is sugar coating it.
St Kilda are the saddest and least successful professional sporting club in world history.

Are perennial losers St Kilda set to break supporters' hearts again, or is this team different?

Wonderful result and the Matildas are a credit to the country and the game.
And the examples of civilised behaviour the female footballers give to youngsters is marvellous. Too bad brain dead male footballers around the world are such bad examples to our next generation – such as surrounding and harassing referees when the brats don’t get their way and then the idiots seem surprised that the ref doesn’t change her/his mind.

The Great Vine: Cortnee fires Matildas through to first ever semi-final after epic shootout win over France

Since their first season the Suns have had 3 permanent coaches in McKenna, Eade and Stewie.
In that same time frame Carlton has had 5, Essendon has also had 5 and the worst performing club in global history, St Kilda, has also had 5 coaches (counting 2 terms of Ross Lyon).
As brutal as these decisions are, professional sporting teams always want results.
Outside AFL, Tottenham have had 7 permanent managers in the same time period and Ange is the 8th.
So get off the Suns back.
While holding some concerns with a “rejuvenated” board, they should be given time to prove if this is the right decision. If they fail the honourable thing to do is resign en-masse (something that should have happened at Saints/Bombers/Carlton.)

The Suns botch another coaching exit after hanging Stuart Dew out to dry

Not a word about this on the NZF website, so probably just more Townsend wishful thinking.

Have the APL made the right call with the next stage of expansion?

The last 2 games between us and the Poms resulted in a win each, but the mighty Socceroos are ahead on goal difference.
Never over estimate the arrogant English.
Go hard Socceroos.

AFL News: Pre-season schedule released, Hawthorn make decision on future Tasmanian games

Hi Roberto
Silver Lake has one Board member, so yes I should have taken that into account. Simple answer is add one more Independent Director. Shareholders do not make Board decisions.

And really do any of us think that Silver Lake would be happy with the current Board ?

How can anyone be satisfied with the performance of the APL?

I hope everyone is having a joyous Christmas 🙂

I believe the A-League needs to have a board that has a majority of non-aligned directors, for example:

* Independent chair nominated by majority of FA/APL. The chair MUST have prior ASX listed chair experience – sure it limits the field but you want an experienced, business connected person in this role. No prior relationship with any APL club or sponsor.
* 4 directors appointed by the clubs. Two for an initial 1 year term and two for an initial 2 year term. So each year the clubs vote for 2 replacement directors each year. A maximum 3 consecutive terms allowed per person.
* 4 directors recruited by the Chair and FA subject to a confirming vote by the clubs. These directors must not have current or previous ownership/management of an APL club.

How can anyone be satisfied with the performance of the APL?

Agree, forget about what the NRL and AFL are doing, just please respect football supporters.
To expect Perth supporters to travel to Sydney, if their team makes the GF, is just dumb, dumb, dumb.
A week or 2 out from the GF and Joyce will be price gouging QF and Jetstar tickets.

'Killed the A-League', 'treated with contempt': Fans' fury as Grand Finals sold to Sydney

With his comment “NSW is home to the most clubs in the A-Leagues competition….. most PASSIONATE fans…..” Townsend has added fuel to the fire that the A-League really doesn’t give a stuff about anywhere other than Sydney.

'Killed the A-League', 'treated with contempt': Fans' fury as Grand Finals sold to Sydney

Our wonderful Socceroos did a great job and now we hear many reasonable calls for more money to be put into the sport, little of which I suspect would go to grass roots football.
The boys apparently earnt the FFA $19 million by getting to the last 16, but why are the players getting 40% of this ($7.6million in total and just under $300,000 each) on top of their national team wages? If true, why is Arnie being paid $1.4 ~ $1.9 million each year?
Football in this country needs wiser use of our meagre cash flows.
