Yes for now it’s a dream—however a nice one.

Adelaide United have got what every A-League club wants - home advantage

The ideal location for redeveloping the 15,000-seat, state-of-the-art football stadium (complete with air conditioning) in Sydney is the Sydney Athletic Field, located just down the road from Allianz Stadium. This venue would be fantastic for the women’s team, as well as when AUFC visits. As you mentioned, Grem, we can alternate games between the two venues as needed.

But no air-con. Summer football would go through the roof if we had state-of-the-art facilities. Just on Hindmash, the corners around the stadium could easily be filled in. Heritage listing? blah blah. State Gov AFL smoke screen if the truth be told.

Agree Grem. Every club needs to focus on filling a 15,000-seat stadium, and incorporating an air conditioning system in the construction would be fantastic now that the A-Leagues have established themselves as a summer code.

The technology is available, and our stadium architects should thoroughly research and utilize this state-of-the-art solution to ensure our stadiums are packed. Let’s look forward to the future and move away from outdated 1950s thinking.

Buddy, the first and last time I visited Hindmarsh Stadium was in 1972 when a group of us, Socceroo fans drove down to watch Rale Rasic’s team play in a friendly match. We couldn’t get over how well the pitch presented; it was a carpet of immaculate grass, perfectly trimmed and manicured. We were amazed at the pitch’s quality, which continues to go on today!

Brisbane Roar requires a manager who embodies the qualities of Mark Jackson from CCM (Central Coast Mariners). This leadership style is exactly what the team needs to thrive.

Brisbane Roar FINALLY earn first win with massive boilover, Reds pinch top spot from Auckland

Champayne football! What a great round this has been. Yes, it started a bit slow but after the first game from there on it was non-stop action with some amazing upsets. Of course, the biggest upset was how Bris Roar snatched a win on the road. Who would have thought? I’m enjoying reading the comments on here (bias and non-bias 😊). AU vs AFC on Wednesday 22nd at Cooper’s should be a hoot, hopefully with another sellout.

Waz, I expect the WSW to be in the six, at the business end of the season.

Mata wins praise for 'best game he's played', delightful assist - but Wanderers go down to motivated Mariners

Mark Jackson has now established a solid reputation as one of the top foreign managers to ever come to the A-Leagues.

In his second season with Central Coast Mariners (CCM), he had to rebuild the team after the club released several key senior players who moved on to better opportunities following their treble last year. In last night’s performance, it seems he may be on his way to another successful challenge.

The question is whether he can lead the team on another successful late run toward the end-of-season championship finals.

Only time will tell, but I, for one, wouldn’t bet against him.

As for Doka, CCM’s incredible maestro, though small in stature, has consistently delivered outstanding performances on the field for the club, and none better than last night capped off with an exciting solo run with a goal at the end of it.

This loan move for Pat Wood is an excellent decision. Pat is an exceptional player with all the attributes needed to excel as a leading target man in any front line. He is tall, strong on the ball, and possesses solid technique. However, he needs to build a belief in his ability to score and meet everyone’s expectations. This loan opportunity is the perfect chance for him to gain confidence and fulfil his potential. Let’s hope he thrives at the Glory.

Young striker heads west in search of game time under Zdrila as former Wanderer crosses divide

Why would the AFL want it when they have the Gabba? Sorry, that would be a ridiculous move that no one would support. In any case, the Strikers have been located at PP for more than 30 years as we know, I can’t see that changing and their lease as I heard is a very long one. (I can’t confirm this but I heard Clem Jones was instrumental in locking in the long-term 99 yr lease for them when they won the NSL championship). I will see if there is any Copilot info on that.

Q) Clem Jones was instrumental in locking in the long-term 99 yr lease for Brisbane Strikers Soccer Club.

A) “Yes, that’s correct! Dr. Clem Jones, who served as Brisbane’s longest-serving Lord Mayor from 1961 to 1975, played a crucial role in securing the land for soccer at Perry Park in 19671. He chaired the Brisbane Strikers club and ensured the establishment of a dedicated soccer facility. The lease agreement, facilitated through the Clem Jones Foundation, continues to benefit the club and the community to this day1.

It’s a great example of his commitment to promoting sports and youth development in Brisbane.”

Waz, can’t find the lease details so I am not sure for how long. However, I do think it was a 99 yr lease,

Super sub Segecic's 22-minute hat-trick sinks struggling Mariners as Sky Blues go fifth

The Striker’s in the past had a history of dedicated football fans in Brisbane, and they will come back to support a successful team in the A-League.

The Strikers previously commanded strong support in the old NSL days, especially when they clinched the championship at Lang Park in front of a sellout GF match.

The reality is that the Strikers currently hold the lease with the YMCA for Perry Park, and this status is set to remain.

To revitalise a Brisbane team and Queensland football, Brisbane must attract new progressive football owners and transform Perry Park into a 20,000-seat showpiece stadium.

Effective branding, strategic recruitment, and dynamic marketing are essential to ensure a bright new future for football in Queensland.

The club is in complete disarray, and the situation is beyond repair after a coach was caught on camera encouraging players to feign injuries.
This scandal has shattered the Roar’s season and eroded trust among players and supporters alike.
There is a pervasive sense of uncertainty about the club’s direction, and their credibility has been irrevocably damaged.
To restore integrity and give Queensland football a fresh start, the club should consider stepping back from the A-League.
Allowing the Brisbane Strikers to come in and redevelop Perry Park with the FA, and State/Fed Gov funding, paving the way for a brighter future for football in the region.

Aloisi is turning into one of the great Australian managers. A great man manager who knows his players so well.

A-League Tipping: Round 13 - City to go top, Sydney host champions in prime time clash

Summer football should absolutely be played in the evenings—it’s puzzling that TV networks fail to recognise this. There’s no issue with Big Bash cricket thriving under floodlights, so the argument that families want to take their kids to afternoon games in the blazing sun simply doesn’t hold water. In fact, children are captivated by the excitement of games played under lights, and that spectacle enhances their experience. Let’s embrace Friday and Saturday evening matches for the enjoyment of fans and families alike.

Could emulating radical MLS move improve A-League crowds and subscriber numbers?

Yes, BB, I was there for that grand final. 😊

The clock is ticking: Can Brisbane Roar salvage their season?

OK so it must be the YMCA that holds the 99-year lease. And the Strikers have been playing out of Perry Park on a sublease for 30 years that I am aware of. So it all boils down to the YMCA who will just sit on it for the remainder of the lease. What a poor situation this is.

On debut, the poor 18 year old lad Randazzo must have had a sleepless night last night. Two crucial football blunders handing over the game to AU FC. I hope the manager Mile Sterjovski puts an arm around him and tells him to keep his chin up.

Adelaide return to second on the A-League table after a stunning injury-time winner to down Macarthur

Waz, thank you for your reply. Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I remember reading some time ago that Clem Jones granted the Brisbane Strikers a 99-year lease. I have lived on the Gold Coast for 30 years and have only known the Brisbane Strikers to play at Perry Park. This is the first time I’ve heard of the YMCA being involved, which complicates the leasing situation even further. I still believe both clubs should merge to establish a more stable ownership structure for the club, rather than allowing the Barkies to treat the franchise merely as a tax benefit, if that is indeed their purpose for ownership.

The clock is ticking: Can Brisbane Roar salvage their season?

Grem, I watched the Bulls vs AU FC fixture on Paramount+, and I always try to gauge the support for this club. Based on what I saw from the camera side of the ground, the attendance numbers seem to be improving. If that’s the case, the club is moving in the right direction, which is great news for the fledging A-League club. Two strong clubs are emerging in the outer west of Sydney.

Waz, as I understand it, the Roar FC has the FA football licence and the Strikers FC hold the lease for Perry Park. It seems to me no one is going to relinquish their stake to the other.
Therefore, perhaps they could merge and work together for the good of Qld. Football.

The clock is ticking: Can Brisbane Roar salvage their season?

I believe currently, Bris Roar FC and Bris Strikers FC are preventing the formation of a top competitive team that could compete in the A-League Men’s (ALM) out of the Brisbane government-owned Perry Park.

There was a proposal for a purpose-built 15,000-seat football stadium at the Perry Park location. Both clubs should consider merging into a single entity and forming a new club.

Additionally, James Johnson stated that Football Australia would lobby the federal and state governments on behalf of Football Queensland (FQ) to rebuild Perry Park into a new state-of-the-art stadium.

All of this could become a reality if both clubs set aside their differences and collaborate for the benefit of Queensland football.

New players Grem? That’s an interesting development since we have had a cut in 10-TV funding.

Teague holds nerve in Victory-Wanderers stalemate, Caceres strike rescues draw with Jets

JoshW, what are your thoughts on the Melb V vs WSW match last night? The away bay was sold out. That was a good sign for the ALM and dare I say for your club.

I am guessing that Carl Veart doesn’t want him back. The player flatters himself too much and he is bad for the dressing room. Perhaps the BR FC could have taken him on loan. 😊
