No mention of the first goal by AFC against City. Scored by May, it was a screamer from outside the box and Beach had next to no chance of saving it. The shot from 25 yds started outside of Beach’s right hand post and would have stayed out except its curl brought it back in where it slammed into the ol’ onion bag, near the top corner where the spiders live. But yeah, Beach had a good game and has a very promising future.

Classy imports and super subs: A-League players who were the difference in Round 15

Yep, he’s certainly lost (the) players. Mostly sitting in rehab but the manager copes the kudos when things are going great and has to accept the arrows when going poorly.

Ange vows to fight for Spurs redemption as another loss piles on pressure, United worst ever?

A statesmean of the game would have taken the interview and laughed off the Jones comments. Laughter and with it’s tones of ridicule should have been Novak’s response. But it appears he’s not big enough to go there.

Still young enough to develop under the right coach. Maybe ‘Zdrilla’ is da man.

Wood ripped it in the NPL, 21 games, 21 goals. Has appeared 78 times for SFC with 10 goals. Probably just needs opportunities and a coach who believes in him and gives him confidence. Being a goal thief is very much about confidence. Fingers crossed for him.

To be honest, I hardly gave the ref a second thought overall, not saying refs don’t make mistakes. But what was glaring to me was how poor the Spurs players looked against a very good Arsenal side.

Player ratings at this site aren’t flattering 😢

'This can't be acceptable': Ange whacks 'passive' Spurs as Arsenal cut gap at the top, Isak sets Newcastle club record

I watched the game but Arsenal have a better squad by a good margin. Their second goal came from a mad turn over from Spur’s Bissouma who tried to beat 2 Arsenal players in his own half, coughed the ball up and the rest was almost predictable. Spurs just coughing the ball up too easily and got done.

And finishes 0:0

A-League Tipping: Wanderers have point to prove, now or never for Nix

0:0 in Welly at 80min. Lolz SFC’s de Souza Sena who tried to buy a penalty by flopping to the ground in typical South American ch3ating fashion 😂 😂 😂 😂

Got a yellow for his troubles 👍 👍 👍

Victory keen to resolve troubling financial situation

https://www.espn.com.au/football/story/_/id/43066121/melbourne-victory-seek-resolve-troubling-financial-situation

“Against a backdrop of Patrick Kisnorbo’s shock walkout days before the Christmas Derby, Victory held its AMG on Thursday evening, where John Dovaston was re-elected as chair. It came weeks after the club released results for the 2023-24 financial year revealing losses of AU$9.87 million and noting “a material uncertainty exists that may cast significant doubt on [Victory’s] ability to continue as a going concern,” should plans to increase cash reserves or secure additional capital “not materialise”.

Club backers have provided $AU 3.4 million in funding since those accounts were lodged and payment plans on outstanding debts have been agreed with both creditors and tax authorities. Backroom operations have also undergone downsizing, resulting in redundancies and staff departures.”

Australia Cup?????????????? It’s gone missing I’m afraid.

But just on a small tangent but maybe something to reflect upon. The inaugural National Second Tier/Division will start this year and run from October through to December, completely overlapping with the A-league. This to me present an opportunity too good to miss.

I haven’t a clear plan but only some vague thoughts. What if the Unite round was a special weekend in the October/December window that pitted a A-league v NSD in some fashion for some cup? Maybe the Unite Cup? What if the Australia Cup grand final was played in that window, maybe as part of Unite round celebrations? Maybe Unite round is really about uniting the Australian footbal pyramid in a special week(end) of meaningful games. I would be excited to see that than just the regular A-league teams.

Now's the time to boost Australia Cup - a tweaked format could rekindle ailing competition

MVC v WUN was mad but fun to watch. Perf v AKL was a surprise to me seeing the score the following morning.

There are only 4 pts separating 6th from 1st on the ladder, it seems that silverware is anybody’s to win which is making me very excited and nervous at the same time 😢

What a season for “CFG lite”, bit like Spurs, a shed load of first team players in rehab and yet the younger brigade are doing a job for us 👍

The story of the night is Antonín Kinský, the 21 year old Czech who could become the new Petr Čech. Definitely a young player to follow and good on Ange for securing him for Spurs.

'He should have been off': Liverpool raging as Spurs rookie scores winner moments after lucky red card escape

In much younger days playing junior football, I broke my left wrist falling forwarded with my hands out trying to break my fall. You can break bones in the many ways.

'I don’t know what the rules are': Alen Stajcic perfectly sums up the mess that is football officialdom

“approximately down”

There were two WSW defenders trying to block the shot, Clisby and Simmons, Clisby falling to his left and Simmons to his right. Clisby’s left arm, and especially his forearm, appears to project away from the body more so than that of Simmons’ right arm. On balance I think the pen decision was OK.

Staj has got the moans but on balance it was a pen. If you look at the video and check it frame by frame, Clisby’s mistake was to have his forearm extended horizontally out from his body. Had his forearm been approximately down towards the ground, simply in the normal act of cushioning his fall I probably would have been sympathetic to Staj.
