Although Carlton made it back into the eight by defeating West Coast in the final round of the season, the club would be disappointed to be eliminated in the first round of the finals.

It was a season that promised so much when the club was sitting second on the ladder after Round 20.

Successive losses to Port Adelaide, Collingwood and Hawthorn meant the club finished in eighth spot only ahead of Collingwood on percentage.

Top 100 Game Players Lost: 0.

As a foundation club in the original VFL competition in 1897, a Top 100 ranking in either games played or goals kicked is hard to achieve, even with the opportunities presented in the modern game and Carlton did not lose any of their small number of Top 100 players.

They did however manage to recruit a Top 100 game player from one of the younger clubs in the competition.

Nick Haynes (#6 Greater Western Sydney) was one of the six Giants who have played over 200 games for the club over his career and will bring a lot of experience to the Blues.

Current Top 100 Games Players: 3.

This additional experience will be welcome as the Blues currently have only three Top 100 Game Players on their list: Captain Patrick Cripps (#33) is now a dual Brownlow Medallist and should go on to be one of the greatest players for Carlton of all time.

Jacob Weitering (eq #52) has recently signed a long-term contract with the club and is likely to advance quickly up the ranks at Carlton.

Sam Docherty was restricted to two games this season, the second one a desperate attempt to lift the side in their elimination final.

Docherty should also make a significant move up the rankings given an injury-free season.

Potential Top 100 Game Players Next Season: 3.

Three of the biggest names at the club should all play enough games in the 2025 season to join the elite group of game players at the club.

Charlie Curnow and Harry McKay are already Top 100 Goal Scorers at the club and should play sufficient games in the first half of the season to qualify for membership on the game players list.

Whereas Sam Walsh will need to be injury-free and in form to join them later in the season.

This will make six Top 100 game players at the club by season’s end – enough for Carlton to be well in the mix.
