Didn’t we get that last guy for an extended contract? How did that go? I think that both RA and Schmidt were quite transparent (a long time coming for RA) when the contract was signed. The short term plan was to improve the back of house and improve performances and that occurred. Lots of contracts/jobs are performed by interim leaders/coaches and quite often they don’t remain until the end of a project because that wasn’t what their contract was for.
'Too much respect for Joe': Kiss commits to Queensland as Wallabies coaching circus continues
We finally get a coach with a level of professionalism we have all been calling for over the last decade and we get KPM trying to shoot the guy down. Jeepers

Morally wrong thing to do? It’s sport. It’s really not that important at the end of the day.

Deciding and announcing are two different things as well. We don’t know what the decision is

I disagree.

😂 that’s OK, you’ll be able to point to all the QLD born players in the Brumbies and take the credit either way

That’s not how contracts work though! He knew what he was getting into, that was the dumpster fire that was Australian rugby for 18 months. No more, no less. We can all want him to stay without asserting that he is doing anything remotely underhanded.

But he took the contract and is fulfilling the contract. Am I missing something?

Only a Reds supporter would say something so ridiculous. I’ll die on my parochial hill 😂
I kid of course and completely agree with the sentiments. Sometimes people here just get some blinkers on and it affects absolutely everything they say

My wife is definitely the fire in the belly type of coach

I work from home so I can hear my wife yelling at the kids, it’s almost the same right?

Except the selectors mostly ignore shield performance and have for years? (I’m being a smart so don’t take this comment seriously)
Canary yellow is so last century, fluoro is in fashion: Nobody cares if you don’t watch the BBL
I might have misspoke a little there. What I should really have said that while the Shield is important from a player quality perspective, is that the BBL is an increasingly important section of the financial pie. So the success of the BBL is as important as Shield and Test cricket.

And we all know how that story goes!

It should really have been state based with each team playing each other twice. But I guess they saw that clubs/franchises were the way to go as the two biggest sporting codes in Aus are just that (while rugby union has state based and we all know how badly that is going).

Yeah I don’t get the adage of getting back to real cricket when the shield makes CA no money.

Unfortunately it’s the plastic fantastic that will pay the bills.

And each to their own. I’m not in love with the BBL, but am more inclined to spend an afternoon at a Hurricanes game than a full day at the Tigers.

Well as someone that works in survey work I can tell you it would depend on how the question was designed and what the sample was. But I can concede to your point. What I was getting at was that the cricket is being gatekept by people that are willingly ignoring that people do in fact care about the BBL.
Now, I can personally take it or leave the BBL, but my dollars go to BBL purely from the fact that I can take the kids to a game during the holidays and it’s all wrapped up under 4 hours.
Canary yellow is so last century, fluoro is in fashion: Nobody cares if you don’t watch the BBL
Why the gatekeeping of the game though? If someone watches BBL over test or ODI’s does that mean that mean they’re not cricket fans?
Canary yellow is so last century, fluoro is in fashion: Nobody cares if you don’t watch the BBL
I’m probably just being facetious. As are the people who dismiss the BBL out of hand, despite attendances clearly showing that people do care. And all these lads come here to complain about the BBL detracting from shield cricket when 3 men and their dogs go to shield games.
Canary yellow is so last century, fluoro is in fashion: Nobody cares if you don’t watch the BBL
Cricket is a funny one though, does anyone really care about the cricket? Think about it. Even test cricket is really about the atmosphere, the results are inconsequential as long as it’s a compelling game.
