And Australia don’t have the vast quantity and quality of resources seen with the USMNT or Japan either.

A Japanese or an American playing in Denmark or Sweden may sound insane for these people nowadays. But an Australian playing in Denmark or Sweden is worth to cherish for. The difference is very huge.

Today Socceroos do not have players of similar level rivalling to Kaoru Mitoma, Wataru Endo, Weston McKennie and Tim Weah. You have to capitalise from the smallest. That’s the point.

Denmark still have a better domestic league than Australia. You cannot reject that.

Tennis is not football (or soccer). Tennis produces thousand of athletes per year and they are not concentrated in one country. That’s why the UK had a hard time coping for a long time until Andy Murray’s emergence. A gigantic China with 1 billion people is still trying to find out who can become the best Chinese professional tennis athletes in the same level with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

Australian tennis is far more competitive, but playing other competitive powers like the US, UK, Spain, Italy, etc, is already difficult enough.

After a bunch of bad exes in Aussie men's tennis, will Demon be 'the one' to take AO pain away?

Paul Izzo is having even more playing time in Randers and in fact, being no.1 for the Danish team. Tom Glover is also earning more play time with Middlesbrough. Meanwhile Ryan committed many mistakes against Bahrain that killed Australia’s chances to snatch even a win in two matches. The inability of Popovic to entrust different goalie other than Ryan was chastening.

Bring Paul Izzo in. Maybe we can get the difference.

Ange should begin to pack home. Tottenham are so bad that they don’t look like a team anymore.

With Manchester United, the impact of having the same owners who cared nothing about club… set this destruction. Though I don’t think it is the worst yet, given they used to be relegated five times.

Ange vows to fight for Spurs redemption as another loss piles on pressure, United worst ever?

Bloody true. Never saw Sydney goalie being that bad.

Adelaide have always amazed me by fan loyalty. Perhaps it helped a lot.

Adelaide United have got what every A-League club wants - home advantage

Adelaide always have some of the most loyal and passionate fans. It’s different from most other Aussie clubs. Sad truth but A-League Men needs a total inquiry.

Utter madness but in tennis traditions.

American centric narrative only prioritises basketball and their own rugby-esque version (American football). I guess they need to focus on other sports.

Sorry, ESPN: It's absurd to suggest LeBron James is greater than Novak Djokovic

Damn crackers from Nunez. He is such a player only for special moments.

Watch the Adelaide match. A lot of fans. Somehow it reminds me of the MLS in 2000s. Then seeing so many empty seats in other stadiums. It is sad to watch.

But hey, more and more Aussie locals scored goals. They need to be entrusted.

C’mon Ange. You should know what to do with Spurs. The Spursy nature of the team were too much to handle.

Doubtful. Ange may have been Australia’s greatest manager so far, but nope.

No one said King Henry V would defeat the more numerous French in Agincourt either.

For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition.

Let’s hope.

I guess Ange won’t survive this time around.

I agree. Though I doubt Japan and China will complain the same.

I should have added Renard’s issues. His past records as coach of Zambia, Morocco and France W provided an insight. He loved high-tempo pressing, perhaps in a partial form of Jurgen Klopp’s gegenpressing, a reason why he succeeded so quickly. Yet his inability to maintain momentum with teams he formerly worked (Zambia failed to qualify for 2014 WC, Morocco’s poor 2019 AFCON, to how France W faltered in the Olympics just after reaching the Nations League final) suggested something about it.

I agree that Saudi are the biggest threat but the Renard 2.0 era doesn’t seem to be as formidable as the first.

WCQ Group C predictions: Do-or-die for Socceroos in vital window, can Saudis recover?

Thanks.

The Vietnam story was somehow close to it. Vietnam had a glorious era under the Korean Park Hang-seo (and a reason why Indonesia hired Shin Tae-yong), and Park’s Vietnam even faced Socceroos back in 2022 WCQ. But Park’s decision to step down after 2022 AFF Championship left a major void. Philippe Troussier was appointed with his 2002 World Cup experience with hope to sustain Park’s success. Sadly, he proved so disastrous that the Vietnamese missed out the final round of this WCQ, hence he was sacked.

One key similar issue related to it is more than just Hervé Renard’s inability to maintain momentum with teams he previously worked. The story is quite coincidental: both Vietnam and Indonesia appointed coaches from the former colonisers (France and the Netherlands), expecting that they understood them. Instead, these decisions have left them to ruins.
