Kini has only played 16 games in Cup. By comparison Fa’alogo 2.5yrs and everyone was seeing what he could do before he got the call up. Get Kini learning how to organise a line, be in position and defend then bring him back up to the Titans a more rounded player
NRL Pressure Gauge: Origin stars, fading veterans, desperate players on final chance - who needs to bounce back in 2025
Wrong comment.

Poor old Foran is usually the one sitting on the sideline nursing another injury but he’s been 20 & 21 games respectively at the GC, now they need someone to stay on the park beside him. I would like to see AJ in there or FB but I understand why Des wants to fill that center position with someone more reliable. Smith Shields went from ACL to Pec to Hammy in succession.
I wonder is Des is watching big Tui Simpkins? He has been going well in Q Cup and would bring some size to an underwhelming bench. He’s only 23yo so about to start appreciating his size.
Round 1 Predicted Teams: Titans - Des needs to settle on halves duo, where will ex-Wallabies star get a start?
It depends if the club has the option in their favour as well. Otherwise they can boot him at a huge cost. Not often the receiving club wants to carry the entire cost of a player unwanted by the club.
'Leaked within minutes': Agent slams NRL clubs after Eels star shopped to rivals
Good to see Te Whare making a go of it. With nothing more required than catching and scoring (occasionally running over a little winger) he will be a star over there.
Manu scores again but Deans' Wild Knights too strong for Hansen's Toyota, McMahon's long-range try
It wouldn’t be the worst thing for V’landys to get involved with the SL comp. He has the connections to attract more money into their game. If they could somehow get more NRL vs SL clubs games over there to help boost the profile, especially if they won a few.
Let’s hope Benny can bring some maturity and leadership to the Brisbane squad. I’m all for the young fellas having confidence but they all need leaders to out them in their place when it gets out of hand. That’s the difference of back in the day.
NRL News: London calling as Brisbane buy in, Hunt reflects on hometown return
Success breeds support and there’s enough in that 10m to get a following. There’s probably 5k Brisbane ex-pats living there. Even the French clubs were selling out their games not long ago.
NRL News: London calling as Brisbane buy in, Hunt reflects on hometown return
He’s a current Aust player, comfortably top 5 #7 in the comp and you think he’ll fall off a cliff as not to be SOO level? You don’t do breakups well do you? 😂

I would look at that as significantly wreaking one spot to slightly strengthen another and #7 is more important than #1. Agree that Trindall is more of a traditional #7 than Hynes but I wouldn’t be moving him out of the halves for the sake of the rookie.
Round 1 Predicted Teams: Sharks - Star recruit puts Cronulla in title contention, rising star set to miss starting spot
IMO that is a bit too risky. Hynes has had to carry the load and expectation of that team since he arrived. He’s got 2/3 top 4 finishes and including a Dally M. I’m sure he would fill the FB well but what do you then lose with a rookie #7 who won’t be there next year?
Round 1 Predicted Teams: Sharks - Star recruit puts Cronulla in title contention, rising star set to miss starting spot
Good team, good bench and depth in most positions. They needed a dominant prop and AFB fills that role. Hynes is as good as any other half on his day but needs assistance from Trindall runs some plays to take the heat from him. I was especially impressed with Iro last season. Certainly carrying the family name well as a big robust runner of the footy.

You can only wish these guys well. Great servants to the game and club in their own right and valuable team members at their peak. I wonder how much Peach regrets that move to the GC? For just a few more dollars effectively ended his stature in the game. From a Brisbane fan POV, Oatesy could give you heart palpitations for so many reasons all in the space of one game. He could somehow score a try with nothing but his hand in the field of play but it was a deadset lottery when a grubber came his way. Kudos to Johnson, his legacy will be how many Kiwi/Poli he inspired to play league.

Might be a tough year for Robbo but I suspect this conversation has already happened with Uncle Nic to be letting all those players go at one time. In this current team I have two concerns: 1, Watson was everyone’s fav #14 but he also very susceptible to injury so can he play 80 in the middle for an extended period? 2, Crichton had a bomb put under him last season and earned a fat new contract, does he still have that motivation knowing it’s most likely his last deal?
I don’t think they should be pinning their hopes on Manu coming back. In union he’s doing half the work for 2x the money. It would take him until Sept just to get back to match fit.
Round 1 Predicted Teams: Roosters - Halves, centres, pack, bench on long list of problem areas for Robinson
He might be referring to De La Salle. That kid is a monster. Him and Te Kura in the Qld front row in 5 years will be a scary sight.

I seem to remember Benny watching 13 blues in the rearview a few years back. 😛

That would be him. Hopefully he stays at it, the kid was a bloody athlete.

I’m in two minds over this. If the contract had the clause then its the job of the agent to see what’s there. On the other hand, don’t ask a question you don’t want the answer too.
He’s a playmaker in a rep quality team that missed finals 2x. 2026 is settled for a lot of clubs and Parra won’t be tipping in any to play against him. Now the club is looking at a bloke they developed and pay handsomely showing no commitment to them. He would want to be the best trainer on the park for the next few weeks.
'Leaked within minutes': Agent slams NRL clubs after Eels star shopped to rivals
It’s a ballsy bluff call by Ryles if it is. I’m guessing Melbourne won’t be on that list if he thinks Ryles is tough.

No you’re stating an opinion. He was your favourite when he argued for your team and suddenly found this opinion when he argued against them.
'Fight for everything': Flanagan makes surprise call on Dragons captaincy
Woolfe has a lot of good head aches in this team but he has to settle quite quickly on his best 13. Fleg is the difference in the 17 makeup. This team is short a bench big man. I would start in the backrow because he has skills and pace beyond a middle pig.
Round 1 Predicted Teams: Dolphins - Woolf hungry to win after Wayne’s exit, plenty of bite in new-look pack
I wasn’t in the Dogs boardroom to give you an exact explanation of their thinking. What I will offer is that Mahoney was signed early Nov ‘21 so he was already on the books for the season you are highlighting in ‘22. 2021 wasn’t JMK’s best season so I would suggest that had a fair bit of reasoning to it.
I think there is a fair bit of 20/20 hindsight in your analysis. JMK had been there 4yrs already at the time of signing Mahoney so it’s fair to say they thought they had seen what he has so offering a 50% increase and 4 more yrs isn’t reasonable. Kikau gets a pass because he is a proven, elite backrower. It’s a chalk and cheese comparison.
Round 1 Predicted Teams: Bulldogs - Sexton needs to kick on, wing up for grabs, rising star could be benched
It’s no secret Mahoney has turned into a pest. I’ve seen the dumb, niggling penalties but I cannot agree that they overshadow all the good work he does. I don’t think that stat sets him so far apart from the likes of Sam Walker or Burton who give away 2 less over the course of a whole season.
Round 1 Predicted Teams: Bulldogs - Sexton needs to kick on, wing up for grabs, rising star could be benched
It is reasonable without doubt but JMKs best year was similar too or bested by Mahoney in his first year there – with the same pack (bar Kikau who played 9x) and same winning record. I agree JMK has a better running game but by comparison it is 10m a game more on average. JMK wasn’t let go because of his durability which is a concern at Redcliffe but considering his contract value is now (est) well above $500k after his extension, yet to play 20 games and not playing finals like the Dogs are then the value p/$ has to lean towards Mahoney.

Brown is a kiwi for starters so why would he be looking at RA? Pretty easy to say No when he comes at above $1m tag. “We keep an open mind… but a closed wallet”.
