Clutching at straws I feel if he feels Rugby is an option. No doubt it is just a ploy to try and up his price.
On another matter, I have just read that Cheika has told Leicester he will not be going around with them next season. Can we read more into that vis-a-vis the Wallabies – for me, I hope so
Wallabies on Brown's radar as Eels star casts wide net in search for new mega deal
I am sure World Rugby are sweating on the 2031 RWC.
Selling it in the US should perhaps focus on famous American or well known identities who played the game; it doesn’t matter at what level they played, so long as it is documented that they did play. There are a plethora of well known people that would be recognisable in the US who played the game; perhaps an advertising/awareness program with them as the focus would help lift the profile.
Names such as
George W Bush
Bill Clinton
Elon Musk
Daniel Craig
Javier Bardem (Bond movie)
Kris Kristofferson
Che Guevara
Sean Connery
John F Kennedy
Ted Kennedy
David Niven
Benito Mussolini……..there are plenty of others.
These are ‘faces’ Americans can relate to. Tie them to Rugby. Ask 10,000/10,000,000 Americans who Will Skelton, Antoine Dupont, etc etc are and we would get zero recognition
'Nonu means nothing to them': The USA has been selling rugby the wrong way - this is how the 2031 RWC can succeed
Any potential Wallaby moving away is a loss to the limited pool of talent we have.
However, had he been picked up by a Top 14 French club, then we would know we had lost a real talent.
Exclusive: 'Fly the coop' - World Cup Wallaby signs with English club as RA loses second forward in as many weeks
It seems your assessment of Gleeson runs contrary to the assessment of the current and previous Wallaby coaches. French Top 14 clubs do not buy duds.
Exclusive: Wallaby dropped by Schmidt for first camp of 2025 after signing with overseas club
I hope you are correct re Edmed. It is not possible to continually win games with mediocrity at 10
Greatest moments, best games, top stars and biggest villains of 2024 - plus five fearless predictions for 2025
The best thing about Australian Rugby in 2024?…………it has whet the appetite for the start SR 2025.
Let’s hope we masochistic Australian rugby supporters are not disappointed.

Like players and especially politicians, referees are not perfect.
If tv cameras, referees, assistant referees are not focused 100% on the same square metre, at exactly the same time things will be missed. Peripheral vision may make those involved suspect something has happened but it would be impossible to be 100% certain. Ninety-nine percent (never 100%) of egregious play will be spotted by TMO’s IF you are playing international or SR but with fewer cameras maybe Shute or Hospital club things will be missed.
Typically things even out. If that is not good enough perhaps target shooting of something else where there can be no doubt will be better entertainment for some.
All Blacks star's head hit sparks wild Mack Hansen ref rant
Seems like many of the naysayers, those who insisted we would not be competitive against England, Scotland and Ireland are once again to the fore in relation to members of this squad.
Schmidt names one uncapped player in 40-man squad to kick off Lions campaign - as RA waits on contract call
Kilani Thomas has been impressive, on the few occasions I have seen him play for the Reds
Prospecting for gold: No.9s and playmakers - who stand out in Australia's next generation of halves
KPI’s for #9, minimum requirements
– know where the space is at all times.
– kick 35-40metres, accurately, from a standing start behind a scrum, ruck and a maul, WITH EITHER FOOT
– have the capability to throw a 20-25metre bullet pass, off the ground, both right to left and left to right
– be a defensive asset.
KPI’s for #10, minimum requirements
– know intuitively where the space is
– be a stonewall in defence
– unless there are more capable kickers in the team, should be able to routinely make 40-50 metre kicks to touch
– from anywhere inside own half kick accurately to the 5 metre line.
– command the back line
– capability to throw, accurately, a 25-30 metre bullet cut-out pass
– capability to kick, with pin-point accuracy, a cross field kick
– capability to chip kick, in general play, to open spaces
That’s for starters, not too much to ask is it?

And the only coach with a proven track record, Cheika, will remain persona non-grata with RA.
Schmidt's old right-hand man emerges as favourite to take over Wallabies if Kiwi calls time after Lions
The QRU can be relied on to put their parochial self interest before the national interest. They have a well established and proven track record.
Schmidt's old right-hand man emerges as favourite to take over Wallabies if Kiwi calls time after Lions
These types of speculation are always end up a bit like blancmange; soft and squishy. There is a distinct whiff of Francophobia; I don’t mean Dupont, he was off elsewhere.
Our World 23 of 2024 - and why All Blacks gun doesn't make it
The backline and to a further extent the entire side were directed well by an ever-improving Noah Lolesio at flyhalf, particularly as he started challenging the line.
True – but his line kicks are kindergarten level and his cross field kicks are a 50-50, at best, chance of being accurate.
A moot point, maybe, but it is reasonable to ponder that, if Skelton had played in the Ireland game, the last try from a maul as I recall, would have had a far higher of not being scored if Skelton had been part of that defensive maul. Then again, it was late in the game so probably the big man was warming the bench.
Hope has been restored: Wallabies' Autumn Nations series 2024 report card
What is the value of RA’s pot. Transparency, to a degree would be nice.
How can we know if the RA clique are not in the some honey pot that the England RFU have been discovered to be in with million dollar retainers plus bonus’ on top of their pay packets.
Half the Wallabies starting XV that almost beat Ireland are off contract in 2025 - here's the five RA can't lose
There is very little, if any, club rugby during the 6N January to March calendar

Yes, provincialism is never far away.

Agree 100% re kicking. We are very poor compared to our NH friends.
Perhaps that is why we spent do much time in our own half in the Ireland game.
How Roar readers rated Wallabies' loss to Ireland: Loose forward trio show world-class credentials, Edmed debut cops second whack from Roarers
We now have a team that people will queue up to see; that game shows there is a tissue paper difference between the #8 in the world and the #2. The Wallabies will only get better, much better, whereas there does not appear to be much up-side for Ireland.
There were a number of uncharacteristic Irish mistakes in the first half; was that laziness or consequence of Wallaby pressure. I prefer to think it was the latter.
In the second half we were out-gunned territory wise and that is probably the result of the only glaring weakness for the current team. We still do not have a strong 10 and that weakness is exacerbated with a weak second half #9. There is, now, nothing wrong with Lolesio’s kicking from the tee, but his line kicking, cross field kicking and vision is ordinary. His counterpart chewed off large tracts of territory which ensured we played the second half at the wrong end of the field. Prendergast could also be relied on to find touch 5-10 metres from the Wallaby line when the opportunity was there.
For me, the reality is we have a very capable team, defensively – loved the aggression. In attack we are hampered by an ordinary 10 which means we are hamstrung in our ability to create space out wide, where, incidentally, our post potent weapons are languishing.
Wallabies left heartbroken as Ireland stage stunning second-half comeback to win in Dublin
I’m scared Doris will make Wilson look foolish. Wilson routinely misses tackles rushing up. I will revert to one of my basic skill worries for the Wallabies; tackling the legs. No-one is going to make any metres with someone holding onto your ankles. For a master class, watch the French.
The Autumn Nations Series doesn't get any easier for Australia: Three key Irishmen the Wallabies need to watch out for
I watched the Ireland Fiji game; 21 year old Prendergast was impressive. Maybe Ireland have found their next Sexton.
Two more Aussie threats for Wallabies in Ireland clash as Schmidt's successor Farrell backs young gun in No.10 role
I guess they were all full backs in their day.
Nah – orange carriers maybe, but probably not.
Wallabies CONFIRMED: Schmidt makes six changes for season finale against Ireland, Suaalii cleared as Edmed debuts
The Strategist – if you are correct, then we are doomed.
I suspect the reason Schmidt starts with Gordon or White is that he probably does not rate McDermott very highly. I would not be surprised if Kiss starts with Thomas or Werchon next year so his backs can have a some space.
How Roar readers rated Wallabies' loss to Scotland: Potter flies high on debut, Kellaway, bench eviscerated as side cops FIFTEEN fails
“I know Joe from day one said that he sought permission to be 100 per cent honest with the group about what they did well and what they’re not doing well,” Fisher said.
I think most would agree the basic skill of the Wallabies have shown encouraging improvement in most areas. Perhaps except for tackling; far too many missed tackles. How often did Wilson rush up to tackle and never succeed; it was too easy for players to avoid being tackled.
It would be good, but don’t hold your breath, for RA to tell us what they are doing to filter down Schmidt’s basic skills disciplines to SR, shield, and all lower grades of rugby. If nothing is being done, what Schmidt has instilled into the Wallabies will be lost when he has gone.
'Great for Australian rugby': Fisher lauds Schmidt's challenging approach as 'class act' weighs future
After watching the game it was difficult to decide between ‘are Toulouse that good’ or ‘did Leicester just not turn up’ in the light of the fact that Leicester were always qualified for the next round – but then again Toulouse were also qualified. I suspect Leicester didn’t ‘turn up’ but never the less, watching Toulouse create space was a masterclass.
I have not yet watched Bordeaux’s bitch slapping the Sharks but Penaud touching down 6 times will be worth watching I suspect.
