Sorry if that’s incorrect. ESPN Cricinfo is absolutely right and I missed that on there. That’s on me but yes you’re absolutely right. Still a solid average and the point his average this season has been a bit of a downturn though
Wrong form at the wrong time: Why Rocchiccioli wasn’t the next man in for Sri Lanka tour
Personally Lewis has had a tough season and the current ground effect cars really don’t suit his driving style (similar to Ricciardo’s struggles but on a less extreme level)
Lewis I don’t think will beat Leclerc but I do think it’ll be close and if Lewis takes enough points off Leclerc then that stops potentially either driver winning a title for themselves.
Is Ferrari sacrificing a world championship for Lewis Hamilton's potential fairytale?
I think maybe the solution for the Spurs is a combination of your suggestions. Just sitting above 500 isn’t going to win you any rings. The Spurs have so much time on their hands so there’s no need to win now. But fans will soon want to see pieces being put in place and improvement in the squad around Wemby. Let it play out but be very specific with who you draft as a compliment to Wemby.
The Wemby issue: The problem Spurs have with their budding superstar - and the three options on the horizon
I feel like South Africa in particular is an untapped fan base. In terms of re-working the WTC I agree that it’s natural for the big three to play more test matches. UAE can’t host India Pakistan but I’d love to see England or Australia host maybe a three test series.
The winning formula: How Test cricket can return to relevancy in T20 era
The future in Australia is good I agree, same for England. But out of those nations I feel it is not quite as strong. Globally cricket can be doing much better to compete with soccer etc but agreed here in Australia the game is very safe.
The winning formula: How Test cricket can return to relevancy in T20 era
I like that, makes it both harder to make the WTC but also ensures it’s a faker competition good idea Linphoma!

I think Konstas is so fearless and so young that he may not understand that yet. But seeing what he did in the Prime Minister’s 11 game and for Australia A he can spend longer times at the pitch. Many said the same when David Warner came onto the scene and he managed to figure out how to play test matches.
Konstas proved in one innings he's exactly what Australian cricket needs
They will 100% bowl shorter and target the stumps more to Konstas BG, but Konstas is good enough to adapt and he can play aggressively without having to ramp the ball or charge down the wicket. He’s a raw talent with not much finish so it will be all about getting him experience at the top level he is just so young and so talented if he is willing to adapt I think he has a long stint ahead of him. It is hard to say after just one match though.
Konstas proved in one innings he's exactly what Australian cricket needs
Lance Morris fits the bill there but I suspect Jhye Richardson is next in line, I would say if a rotation policy were to come in and give one fresh player like those I’ve mentioned it would smooth out the transition.
Konstas proved in one innings he's exactly what Australian cricket needs
Uzzie can be a great ambassador for cricket agreed, in regards to both of you I think he was okay in the first innings in Melbourne but like you said we have to be very careful that we don’t make a David Warner mistake and play him too long. Henry Hunt from Adelaide would be a great option but I suspect if he wanted to Uzzie will play Sri Lanka.
2025's biggest questions: EPL dynasty on the verge of collapse, Swans' new era
I think they appointed Cox because he was deemed the successor and was under Longmire’s watch for many years. The plan was in place in similar fashion to Simon Goodwin at Melbourne. I think there is a degree of being a known quantity and not wanting to take a risk but if they believe he is the right man and better than the risk of going external then time will tell if the Swans board will be vindicated.

Like the article Michael but quite surprised with Monza being the number 1 highlight:
-verstappen in Brazil was an all time classic drive
– maiden wins for Norris and Piastri
Also the fact this weekend sees Doohan’s debut and a constructors fight for the title between giants of the sport means so much is still to play for!

“You bet I’m holding out hope they come good because they’re by a huge distance our best hope of winning this series.”
I think Gordon it’s a balance. No one is saying the whole side should be changed but that top four has been very shaky. Some change is going to be needed if we lose badly in Adelaide. 2 changes I think is that balance. Don’t get me wrong I want to be proven wrong by guys like Marnus. But that’s a big task under pressure. That’s why this test is so pivotal.
The selectors may not like it, but this is the top order Australia should roll with into the future
Definitely a statement innings. Jhye Richardson is so underrated at test level would also love to see him get another go soon.

Yes Bunney I kept Khawaja in like I said so much talent has failed as an opener we can give the selectors an extra year to make the right call.
No doubt we should be looking to the future but only if it’s warranted. Labsuchange and Renshaw I’m still really unsold on and the other top order talent is incredibly green. I want McSweeney at three so having Konstas and Kellaway open is ideal but we don’t want to rush them into the side. I wouldn’t be upset if Konstas opened this year and maybe like 13th man commented with Hunt who’s a bit older could be a smarter play
The selectors may not like it, but this is the top order Australia should roll with into the future
True Gordon, if they all play into amazing form then yes it would be risky to drop them (I highly doubt all three will play themselves into amazing form)
Like you said it’s a balance, I’m not suggesting getting rid of all three in fact in the article I only say to drop Labsuchange for sure. If we win 4-1 yes most should stay but I will put this to you:
After 2007-2008 Australia fell into a harsh cycle of trying to replace retired stars. We can’t let Starc, Hazlewood, Lyon, Smith and Khawaja retire all within two years otherwise the squad will fall to pieces. I’d like to see two changes and drip feed the new talent in. There’s so much talent in the shield that’s had very little opportunity.
The selectors may not like it, but this is the top order Australia should roll with into the future
I like the shout of Henry hunt 13th man! Two tons recently (yes one was against the abysmal WA) and a few scores of 60 odd show a level of consistency. 27 should be coming into his prime age wise could be a good shout for the next 7-8 years.
The selectors may not like it, but this is the top order Australia should roll with into the future
Agreed 13th man, bowlers are going okay but resting them every now and then to get a morris etc in would be helpful. Hazlewood and his injuries will cut his career short I suspect. For the batters pretty much any young player that stands out in the shield over the next year should be a leading contender. Get them in early and have short term suffering for another 15 years of certified success.
The selectors may not like it, but this is the top order Australia should roll with into the future
I think if Australia do manage to turn this series around we need to make a few changes. We’ve lost to India at home twice now so to win would be an achievement but the big goal is holding onto the urn again. I know how keen the senior players are to make that their last test series but to be honest it would almost be a forgone conclusion we lose the urn next time out in England even if we defend at home.
I think Labsuchange won’t make it because his form has been just so poor. One of smith and Khawaja will miss out I hope and probably Khawaja is at greatest risk of that happening. Smith could hold on in my opinion but two changes for the ashes plus green coming back would do us a world of good.
The selectors may not like it, but this is the top order Australia should roll with into the future
I would love Hazlewood to be fit for the series as he was really great in Brisbane and kept us together. But no doubt Boland should play Boxing Day as a specialist (he gets a bonus test in Adelaide) I would consider resting starc or if Hazlewood isn’t fit then him for Boxing Day so Holand can do his thing!
The selectors may not like it, but this is the top order Australia should roll with into the future
Definitely a rare penalty for Verstappen. As much as he was pinned for driving too slowly I still see it as a case of impending because driving too slowly caused him to get in Russell’s way (or at least in the eyes of the stewards)
The racing around Qatar definitely isn’t for the fans but it’s the epitome of the issues with modern Formula 1. Why they didn’t straight away call a safety car is beyond me Wolzal.
I agree safety needs to be taken more seriously over the racing. They fired the old race director for Brazil so wonder if they will punish again for this incident.
The FIA stewards got it badly wrong in Qatar: Changes must be made to maintain the standards and safety of racing
100% agree, they won’t throw a new batsman in the deep end against Bumrah. If Australia go 2-0 down expect there to be some bigger changes.
Nothing short of abysmal: How each Aussie player can improve after dismal display in Perth
Yeah I think he will be the catalyst for change at the top of the Australian order. Particularly Marnus and Smith need to step up and quickly or they might force the selectors into a change for Brisbane.

Are you in the paddock this weekend Ben? Loving the quotes from all your articles today:
Personally, I believe Piastri needs to focus on his qualifying. Racecraft he’s already proven himself and he’s solved those tyre degradation problems from his rookie season. But no pole positions thus far and a couple errors in COTA and Mexico have shown he needs to further improve in that area.
'There have been flashes here and there in 2024': Piastri ready to give the Championship a real tilt next season
I think it’s difficult to say, definitely Roc has potential but he’s gotta do the work in state cricket to prove beyond doubt he’s a better talent then Murphy which I’m unsure if he’s going to be able to do. Needs to recreate his form from last Sheffield shield season
