Highlighted by some inept defence though.
Folau scores stunner in narrow loss to champs, Foley try leaves Eddie's Suntory in trouble, Rennie's Kobe struggling
Oh dear. Injuries of this nature do not always turn out for the best. Here’s hoping he recovers OK & not hampered down the track.
‘I’ll be back better’: Lynagh optimistic despite being sidelined by knee surgery
You’ve got to laugh at the Poms idea of a suspension.
This guy abuses a ref, admits everything, pleads guilty claiming remorse, but because of the serious nature of the offence gets 6 weeks. However, to ensure the guy gets to play all the 6N matches they have deferred 3 of those matches until the END of the season.
In reality, he’s got a 3 week suspension as by the time the season is all but over he will either be injured, dropped or on his way to the Greek Is for a holiday. Only in the UK can they play around with suspensions in that manner. They’re a joke.
Mack Hansen banned and his ref target quits after f-bomb blow-up
Seriously. Does anyone take anything coming out of ex England players mouths seriously ?
How on earth would Goode know. The simple reason why Eden Park usually gets the big games has nothing to do with records but because it has the biggest capacity. The NZRFU would give their back teeth to schedule every game at Eden Park if there was a guarantee of a full stadium. This is simply not realistic & it is vital Wellington, Dunedin & Christchurch be given matches.
Andy Goode ……………Hahahaha.
'I have heard': All Blacks accused of dodgy act to preserve incredible Eden Park record
Whoa. You obviously have a problem with Razor. Either that or you are simply anti Crusaders.
As for suggesting he has the worst 1st year record. Maybe so, however take a closer peek at some of those close losses including 2 against the World Champions in their own backyard.
Me, I’d prefer to wait for at least another year. The NZRFU gave Foster all the rope he wanted & how well did he go in the end ?
RA on tenterhooks over Schmidt's future - all signs point to him leaving before the RWC and one KEY addition
Schmidt is on his way. IMO he still craves a RWC & he will not win it with Australia.
There is more & more dialogue coming out of NZ that Razor would love Schmidt in his “backroom” team. This would suit Schmidt to the ground. To be able to help fine tune the AB side beside Razor whilst being able to remain at home with his family is his major priority.
RA on tenterhooks over Schmidt's future - all signs point to him leaving before the RWC and one KEY addition
Good. Why on earth should Melbourne have got it anyway.
A bigger stadium granted, but hardly worth taking the game away from a rugby heartland.
Sydney to host 2027 World Cup final with Melbourne shut out of tournament after Rebels debacle - report
I’m sorry, but I was never that impressed with Folau. People used to talk about his try scoring ability & he did score plenty however take a closer peek where he scored them.
Folau mastered the art of roaming outside his wingers ensuring he received the last pass. During his time at fullback some of his counterparts were doing the exact opposite ghosting outside their centres, doing the hard yards creating the gap & giving their wingers the last pass.
Folau had his moments granted, but he certainly did not deserve some of the gratuitous drivel some journalists served up on a regular basis.
Folau and Kerevi cop a flogging in Japan as code-hopping Rooster also finds the going tough
Simply another reason why the NZR will pull out all the stops to get Schmidt back into the All Black environment, even it is in the backroom which Schmidt will enjoy.
He is showing RA the way. This is how a professional coach prepares his squad. A look back on 2024′. A review of what is to come. A chance to show faith in the players that showed so much promise in the UK. These players will throw themselves into pre season knowing they have the support of the main man. He was a loss to NZR, but many are hoping he intends returning.
Schmidt names one uncapped player in 40-man squad to kick off Lions campaign - as RA waits on contract call
I was a critic of Foster & believe he was the wrong man with that squad. However, his comments re the RWC Final show a ton of class.
Everyone knows he was disappointed when Razor got the job, but he simply got on with what he had to finish & with a stroke of luck may have been remembered as one of only 4 men to have won us a RWC.
'You kid yourself': Ex-All Blacks coach's classy response to Hansen's 'we were robbed' World Cup final whine
Actually, IMO you are wrong.
BB had the best year this year in a long time & I believe Razor has in part been one of the reasons. BB has said he intends hanging around & so he should.
D/Mac phobia ?. Meaning ?
Mounga is coming home sooner than expected I suspect. Name me a better 10 in NZ currently.
'It weighed on me': How Razor's Richie Mo'unga flirtation has cost All Blacks a No.10 option
He unquestionably did the right thing going to France.
Richie will return (soon or eventually). BB will No 2 & D/Mac (IMO) a distant 3rd & bench player only. By the time Plummer’s contract will be up I guarantee another 2 Richies have been unearthed around the country. Good on Plummer taking the money. He’s looking after No 1 as it should be.
'It weighed on me': How Razor's Richie Mo'unga flirtation has cost All Blacks a No.10 option
That is by far the 2nd best option. However, the best option is exactly as you suggest but in the backroom for the All Blacks. Joe will come home to NZ for sure I believe.
Schmidt's old right-hand man emerges as favourite to take over Wallabies if Kiwi calls time after Lions
Nope. Schmidt to leave. Lions to win & the Bledisloe stays comfortably in the cabinet in Wellington.
Kirk will save NZR. He will dump the CEO BUT the Wallabies will have a better year than this tear.
Heard it here 2nd.
Schmidt's old right-hand man emerges as favourite to take over Wallabies if Kiwi calls time after Lions
Start talking to Kiss now. Joe is on his way after the Lions.
A mate of mine who has been part of the backroom staff at the Blues for over 15 years now says that Joe intends returning to Auckland before taking up permanent residence. His main priority is his family & NZ beckons.
Another strong rumour circulating in rugby circles in Auckland is that NZR are keen to chat to Schmidt with an eye to him possibly remaining on the backroom staff of the AB’s giving Razor the benefit of his experience now the Wayne Smith has retired. Apparently both Razor & Jason Ryan are very keen.
Schmidt's old right-hand man emerges as favourite to take over Wallabies if Kiwi calls time after Lions
I could not agree more. The game has become sterile. Whereas once possession was everything, it would seem once you’re back in your own half it becomes a matter of taking the safety options instead of the risk taking.
It may win games, but it is losing the fans in certain parts of the world. Unfortunately, mainly in NZ & Australia.
Our World 23 of 2024 - and why All Blacks gun doesn't make it
Yep. Agree entirely.
Others have played sporadically brilliantly, but that 15 has throughout the year week in, week out performed.
Our World 23 of 2024 - and why All Blacks gun doesn't make it
Is this Australian Ladies 7’s side the most ill disciplined of all time ?
A tournament doesn’t end without at least 1 yellow card dispensed to one of the ladies. Last year it was Maddison Levi notching up yellow card after yellow card, however this year already others are taking that mantle. They are a superb side however, they are not going to beat the other heavyweights whilst they are 1 & 2 players down.
Aussie women’s epic win after going down to five against Olympic foe, men make early exit in Cape Town
Except his Wallaby career. If he misses this I doubt whether he will again feature in RWC 27′ plans.
'I don't want any regrets': Two-time World Cup Wallaby confirms audacious NFL bid
Honestly.
Let him go. JP has some of the worst hands I’ve seen of an international mid fielder. He hasn’t lived up to the hype (although that is not his fault). The media did that damage.
If Haynes can’t make it, JP certainly will not. As others on this site have noted, in the US they are producing players twice as fast with years of experience in the game every day. Why would a franchise even look at an unproven player ?
'I don't want any regrets': Two-time World Cup Wallaby confirms audacious NFL bid
Yes, it is sad. What Joe has managed to do in the short time he has had the Wallabies has been substantial. Also, the Wallabies will continue to improve under him. However, every team has that ceiling & currently I believe unless they can unearth some exceptional ball players in the 10-12 positions they may struggle as the AB’s are also finding out currently.
The Wrap: Say it ain’t so, Joe - Wallabies desperate for Schmidt to stay on beyond Lions series
They have never worked together as far as I know, however Razor after 1 year in the job has barely scraped through with a pass mark. He of all people needs a Wayne Smith in the background. Joe is that man & if Razor is man enough to admit it, Joe should also be brought in to help round this squad off.
The Wrap: Say it ain’t so, Joe - Wallabies desperate for Schmidt to stay on beyond Lions series
I’m a Kiwi that was desperately hoping the Wallabies would beat Ireland but not to be.
In truth, this is a Wallaby side that has been playing together all year. Ireland are only just beginning their latest campaign. There was never a better chance to have beaten them.
My appraisal of this year is that currently Australia does not have the cattle to seriously threaten the big 4 sides (SA, NZ, Ireland, France) come RWC 27′. There just isn’t the quality back in Australia to warrant any form of hope.
For this reason I believe Joe will not be here after the Lions. He is a master coach who has brought this team on in leaps & bounds since Eddie, but there is a ceiling to this squads ability & I believe Joe recognises this. It would not surprise me in the slightest if he returns to NZ for good after the Lions & even possibly hold down a backroom position in the AB camp moving toward RWC27. Razor needs help & since Wayne Smith has given the post away, Joe would be the perfect fit.
The Wrap: Say it ain’t so, Joe - Wallabies desperate for Schmidt to stay on beyond Lions series
Forget it.
My guess is he is returning home and look for open communication between Razor, Schmidt & the NZRFU. The one thing Schmidt might crave is a RWC. He won’t get it with Australia but with him in the background helping Razor there is every chance. We will see.
'Great for Australian rugby': Fisher lauds Schmidt's challenging approach as 'class act' weighs future
I’m sorry but this article is simply a storm in a teacup. Let’s be honest here. How many top line players from NZ have ever made it overseas that would have become All Blacks ?
You can forget Lowe & Gibson Park. Neither were ever in any discussion regarding AB selection. Aki maybe however with Conrad Smith, Nonu & even SBW in the same mix, Aki was also only a fringe player.
In reality this has not infringed on any of the top SH countries that I can see. Yes, from time to time a player may make a bolt for the NH but in truth they have done this primarily for the dollars.
