If the purpose of the 2023 RWC draw was to prevent the early exit of the favourites, the draw fails dismally. The RWC 2023…
While New Zealand and Ireland are the most likely sides to win the 2023 Rugby World Cup, a final between these two powerhouses is…
Like other major successful competition are run. Independents managed with rules that apply equally to each franchise. The T20 would be a good template with a salary cap that encourages players are encouraged to move to make every game an 50/50 and where all teams have a chance to make the finals.
'We switch off': All Blacks great says Super Rugby's future depends on Australia pulling its finger out
Same as we seen when the Force was dropped. The team that benefits the most from the demise of the Force (the Rebels) soon found itself in trouble. Just shows that you can’t build a future on the grave of another.

SR will be a proper competition when it is run like a proper competition. Until then it doesn’t really matter how well the Aussie sides are playing or not.

Yes he started well but just couldn’t step up at the next level… it happens. Good club player.

I rate Coxon. Good player.

South Africa front rowers have the best nicknames: Ox, Balie, Beast….but Domkrag must be the best.

Anthony the concept “nationality” has been severely eroded and that has happened for a long time. At the Olympics ‘national’ medals (Au and Ag) for Australia was won a Tatiana Grigorieva and Ekaterina Nakatova from Russia that took an opportunity for a better life. In politics and the economy South Africa born Elon Musk are now an influential powerful “American” that will serve in the Trump cabinet. In Australia despite our short history as a single nation there has been 7 prime ministers that were born overseas. We live in a global world where it is generally accepted that people will migrate to where opportunities are. This is reality for entrepreneurs, professionals and in sports. Countries that can provide more opportunities benefits while those that cannot are being left behind. However we still prefer to think as nations even as the world changes.
Rugby's rotten flaw: Why it's time for World Rugby to protect southern nations from northern raiders
If you want to play test rugby in your career as rugby player you should be able to move to where you are valued more…and therefore paid more. If your country of birth doesn’t provide you with that option and other countries do then you should be able to play for another country once you met the residency requirements. We live in a global world, labour including rugby players are mobile and rugby is a professional sport. If your career hits a wall where you live, it is time to move…. Like all of us.
Rugby's rotten flaw: Why it's time for World Rugby to protect southern nations from northern raiders
Rugby is a career. If you can emigrate like I did to advance my career you should be able to do so. Would Elon Musk be that successful if he stayed in Pretoria? Once you earn residency or citizenship I see no reason why we would make rugby a less attractive career option. The use it or lose it law applies, the country of birth has the first opportunity to lock in the player if they fail to do so or prefer other players it is good for rugby that players locate to where they are valued. It definitely made test rugby more competitive and therefore far more interesting to watch. May we have many more Kolbe vs Van der Merwe contests. Time and globalisation have caught up with Anthony’s sentiments.

What is different and unique is that South African franchises are now financially more secure now that they play In the URC. They can afford to attract top talent back to South Africa without top ups or a embargo on the selection of foreign based players.

I think you are missing the number of experienced Boks that went overseas and returned now that SA URC teams are in a much better financial position after the success of the URC. They still earn less than what they can earn overseas however the packages that SA franchises offer is much more competitive than in Superugby.

How to stop inflation…stop your contribution to wage inflation by not paying over the top for players that you hope will one day become a regular test quality player.

Not in my view. If you decide to criticise the referee in the media when you should use the official communication channels. In principle it is the same problem.
Mack Hansen banned and his ref target quits after f-bomb blow-up
Bluebul is correct that the Rassie video was first leaked in Australia. Until then it was only on the hands of a selected few. I see no difference between a post match rant and one a little later. There is no place in rugby for any of this.

Would be good to play the AB at Eden Park again after the controversy with the Bismarck YC for performing a legal tackle on Carter in the previous test at the venue. If Eden Park doesn’t sell out for this game, Auckland doesn’t deserve a Bok-AB test. The AB will still be the favourites at their fortress but I could not think of a Bok team that has a better chance to change history. Should be a cracker – think it is worth a plane ticket to Auckland.
'I have heard': All Blacks accused of dodgy act to preserve incredible Eden Park record
I think if RA push for a decision now they will get the decision they would not prefer. A contingency plan needs to be put in place so that JS can make a decision without dropping RA in the long drop. I would be surprised if that hasn’t already happened.
'Be rude of us': Schmidt keeps Wallabies in dark over future - but players happy to give him time
Australian rugby writers are always looking for the miracle fix: if it is not the next best thing it is the best thing that could have been. Australian rugby is full of miracle fixes didn’t deliver. It would be better to continue to focus on the basics, good coaching, good selections and a pathway across the country that allows players that are prepared to work for it to progress to Wallaby level.
Forgotten Aussie young gun who would be 'easily the best 10 in the world'
RA wage policymakers are at least holding a line. This after paying extravagant wages under the previous administration for players that are not even world class. RA can’t compete with the Top14 on wages alone, the sooner we realise it the better. We need to look more holistically at the package we offer players and if players are chasing the money let them. If you are getting in the millions a season to play for the Wallabies you need to the be the best in your position in World Rugby.
'Wish him well': RA confident in depth despite losing World Cup Wallaby to France
What outrage? …I said we need to be in Sydney for the finals. To get tickets in the ballots to buy tickets will be tricky for all three finals.
Although it was not the point of my comment, the SFs and finals don’t really need to be in the same city if you give teams that traveled further an extra day to recover. I am sure the QFs will not be in the same city either and some teams would need to travel further than others in the way to the finals.

Clearly they are not gonna share the finals across the nations. Just need to be in Sydney for the SF and Finals…if we manage to get tickets.

Just think how a rural rugby competition will work. Eg Kalgoorlie playing Broome or Esperance. The distances are enormous it is not NSW.

Who is paying for these mini tours? To fly to Europe must be costly. Instead of these overseas tour, an Australian franchises play each other in a NPC type competition? Would that be more cost efficient?
