RIP any valid concept of “nationality.” You are advocating a competition between “nations” in which the nations are pointless to nonexistent….

Rugby's rotten flaw: Why it's time for World Rugby to protect southern nations from northern raiders

Spare me! THIS IS FULLY ADDRESSED IN MY ESSAY.

Rugby's rotten flaw: Why it's time for World Rugby to protect southern nations from northern raiders

What you say is fine at Sub international level. Nothing you say supports it happening at international level.

Rugby's rotten flaw: Why it's time for World Rugby to protect southern nations from northern raiders

Disappointing to read comments based on a selective read of my essay. I emphasized in several places the particular circumstances prevailing between neighbouring countries sharing many economic and social commonalities. There is no comparison between a player shifting between say Australia and New Zealand or NZ and the Pacific Islands and a southern player being captured by a northern country. Exactly. The same applies in respect of say one home union country and another. If there is a genuinely original aspect to my essay it is in respect of my proposal for a subset of rules, worked out between the members of these economic groups. These rules can be more liberal. They would not involve pillaging the s h countries.

Many thanks for your kind comments. I don’t intend stopping with the essay. Help from those who agree with me is essential. Pressure on WR and other stakeholders holders ( including Rugby Australia) demanding that they show some courage is helpful.

Rugby's rotten flaw: Why it's time for World Rugby to protect southern nations from northern raiders

You are talking of super rugby level. The issue relates to the right to represent at national level. A footnote in my essay makes it clear that I am not opposed to free trade at sub.National level

I entirely fail to see the point of your comment in the context of my essay. Please read it again

Rugby's rotten flaw: Why it's time for World Rugby to protect southern nations from northern raiders

This is not true. Read my essay. It applies definitions which you have not taken into account. Those definitions have been developed. In order to reflect where a player was developed not born. This is a more sensible definition, and to my mind demonstrates understanding of circumstances confronting both north and south. Anthony Abrahams
