The Wallabies completed a series sweep of Warren Gatland’s Wales with a 36-28 win on a soggy night in Melbourne, retaining the James Bevan trophy and ensuring a promising start for Joe Schmidt’s time as Wallaby head coach.
Continuing the trend from Sydney the week before, nearly all players – bar two – earned a pass mark. The Roar audience was notably more reserved compared to the opening Test in Sydney, will most players scoring lower than last week.
However, several players saw notable increases in ratings, with the backline seeing every player improve. Filipo Daugunu’s phenomenal performance saw him earn the highest average of the week at 8.10, enough for him to unseat Rob Valetini and end his streak of the highest-averaging Wallaby.
However, the Brumbies loose forward took the silver and enjoyed a strong improvement on his previous week picking up an average of 8.06, and he was joined by Fraser McReight (7.23), Jake Gordon (7.20) and Andrew Kellaway (7.03).
Daugunu, Valetini and Gordon also enjoyed an additional record, with all three earning a most common rating of 8.
