Yep Isaac Henry and Daungunu the strongest centres. Like to see those two play together.
'Absolutely pumped': 17 Wallabies included in Reds' 34-man squad for pre-season European tour
Yes those four.
'Bazbulls--t': Cricket bible slammed as Test team of the year features zero Aussies, FIVE Poms
This is a master move by Kiss to get genuine top level game time into his squad over summer before SR. They’ll have momentum and match fitness at the start of Super season. Any players injured during SR there’ll be players with games in the legs replacing them.

Yep although Reds are weakest in their centres.

Geez, surely Cummins pips Mat Henry? Gus Atkinson is also a very marginal call over Cummins as he’s only played 11 tests.
If it really was just based purely on stats then Scott Boland gets in.
As for batters, why Mendis ahead of Head? Wisden relies on 41 cricket writers so I’m curious what their reasoning is.

Absolutely agree. A monumental essay so well articulated. The great northern hemisphere fraud is allowing foreign players to represent Scotland, Ireland, France, Italy etc
That a player might play in overseas clubs for a period of time isn’t necessarily antithetical to his or her desire to play for their ‘home country’. I feel it can assist player development and improve their income, of course. Just as Aussie cricketers might play some seasons for a county in England ( but not end up playing for England).
However it’s just dishonest for a second country to hold out an Aussie or Islander or NZ’er etc as one of their own, unless of course they really have moved there permanently.

Australian Test squad: McSweeney set for recall, veteran star out of Sri Lanka tour, bolter shoots into frame
No not usually 5-7 places, my god. The only times I’ve see something remotely like that in Rugby was with SA pre-Rassie. Cheika himself didn’t take us backward. A lot of very good players couldn’t be replaced with equally good players post- Chieka. We went back a few rungs but injuries to an ordinary bunch of cattle under Rennie was the main reason for the drop in world rankings, helped downwards artfully by EJ.
RA on tenterhooks over Schmidt's future - all signs point to him leaving before the RWC and one KEY addition
It’s always amusing to read an article from someone who doesn’t have insight into cricket. What’s worse is the out-there lack of bi-partisanship. It’s the same kind of triumphalism that leads Aus into a hole. We only won the trophy because Bumrah didn’t bowl on the last day. If you cannot see that, don’t presume to write articles.
'Immensely proud': Ruthless Aussies put inept India to the sword to break decade-long Border-Gavaskar Trophy drought
In my smart-arse honest opinion (IMS-AHO) it was always going to be thus. JS not signing on for more than 2 years; Les Kiss most likely to be the handed-over-to coach come end of Super Rugby season. Reminder: MC took on WB’s before his tenure at Tah’s had ended, so I see similar pattern here.
JS is in midst of micro-managing the handover process, thank god ( compare hand-over to Eddie) so absolutely forgiven for delaying the expected news.
All power to Les Kiss!!!!!

Sarcasm is beautiful.

It was an assessment based on the best evidence. How else can a ‘call’ be made? It’s an objective method, not necessarily (100%) certain, superior to a reliance on a subjective take on player’s character. Measured? Well measure for measure.
Kohli deserved benefit of the doubt over catch call on golden duck but India's goose appears cooked
So you don’t trust your own perception of the catch, nor the match officials, it all turns on your moral judgement of the catcher?

Yep Jaiswal walked because he thought he had hit the ball. Head confirmed with Jaiswal that he (Jaiswal) had hit the ball

Kohli has every right to complain. Our media are intrusive and insensitive and disrespectful. Even worse in England. They think they have a right to film and accost people in the private time and even in and around their homes.
Filming families is a low act. They have a right to privacy and to just get on with their lives without so-called journalists intruding on them.
'Big tough man, Virat': Kohli blasted for airport run-in with journo as Indian media match boycott adds to growing tension
Well argued and I agree with your reasoning. I’m appalled at the selection committee.
It seems so ill-advised to have asked McSweeney to try his hand at opening against the best bowler in the world with the new ball, and the new Kookaburra at that!
COMMENT: Australia threw McSweeney into the deep end. To ditch him now is even more disgraceful
OK but how is that not repeating a Steve Smith experiment, by saying a guy who can score runs ( Patterson) can also be a long-term opener? Moreover, one that’s a good fit for another inexperienced opener?
Smith shuts Hayden up with ton of class, Guha's 'primate' comment raises eyebrows
Kiss I ( always) thought from his and JS’s recruitment was always viewed as the potential next head coach.
If JS goes in 2025 who else is there, available, with the understanding of JS’s path and processes that could make a less seamless transition into the WB head coach role?
If Joe Schmidt does depart, leave Les Kiss where he is ... for everyone's sake
“but the selectors have to weigh up whether it is making him stronger in the long run or whether he needs to be subbed out for a more experienced opener to avoid the world’s best bowler ruining his career in its infancy.”
World’s dumbest cliche? So journalist thinks that CA and coaches haven’t even done a basic risk assessment regarding NM leading into this series?
Headline act: ‘Box office’ Travis puts Aussies in box seat with daddy hundred as scrappy Smith breaks drought
Who’s your logical replacement to replace Khawaja? Let’s assume you mean someone with age and experience to compliment McSweeney while he finds his ‘opening self’? I’m also assuming that you mean after this test series or did you have a later date in mind?
At what point can we afford two internationally inexperienced newbies? Assumption is that you don’t want to replace one very, very good but aging player with another aging player who hasn’t proved himself at test levels?

Yes at the time I thought Macaulman was a let down. Deans getting Gits ( and Quade) offside wasn’t good either.
Five out of seven ain’t bad but Joe still needs to fix two deadly Wallabies sins before tangling with the Lions
Noah needed consistent games and coaching and he is responding with a better all-round game. Doesn’t mean he will ever be a Marcus Smith but we lack talent at no.10. Will be interesting to see Edmed off the bench.
Wallabies CONFIRMED: Schmidt makes six changes for season finale against Ireland, Suaalii cleared as Edmed debuts
Yeah starting with Slipper with Frost behind him looks very risky. I’m guessing Bell and AAA will play half the game, or nearly half, off the bench.

I don’t think he’s ready yet.
