This is a master move by Kiss to get genuine top level game time into his squad over summer before SR. They’ll have momentum and match fitness at the start of Super season. Any players injured during SR there’ll be players with games in the legs replacing them.

Geez, surely Cummins pips Mat Henry? Gus Atkinson is also a very marginal call over Cummins as he’s only played 11 tests.

That a player might play in overseas clubs for a period of time isn’t necessarily antithetical to his or her desire to play for their ‘home country’. I feel it can assist player development and improve their income, of course. Just as Aussie cricketers might play some seasons for a county in England ( but not end up playing for England).
However it’s just dishonest for a second country to hold out an Aussie or Islander or NZ’er etc as one of their own, unless of course they really have moved there permanently.

No not usually 5-7 places, my god. The only times I’ve see something remotely like that in Rugby was with SA pre-Rassie. Cheika himself didn’t take us backward. A lot of very good players couldn’t be replaced with equally good players post- Chieka. We went back a few rungs but injuries to an ordinary bunch of cattle under Rennie was the main reason for the drop in world rankings, helped downwards artfully by EJ.

JS is in midst of micro-managing the handover process, thank god ( compare hand-over to Eddie) so absolutely forgiven for delaying the expected news.

It was an assessment based on the best evidence. How else can a ‘call’ be made? It’s an objective method, not necessarily (100%) certain, superior to a reliance on a subjective take on player’s character. Measured? Well measure for measure.

Kohli has every right to complain. Our media are intrusive and insensitive and disrespectful. Even worse in England. They think they have a right to film and accost people in the private time and even in and around their homes.

Kiss I ( always) thought from his and JS’s recruitment was always viewed as the potential next head coach.
If JS goes in 2025 who else is there, available, with the understanding of JS’s path and processes that could make a less seamless transition into the WB head coach role?

Who’s your logical replacement to replace Khawaja? Let’s assume you mean someone with age and experience to compliment McSweeney while he finds his ‘opening self’? I’m also assuming that you mean after this test series or did you have a later date in mind?
At what point can we afford two internationally inexperienced newbies? Assumption is that you don’t want to replace one very, very good but aging player with another aging player who hasn’t proved himself at test levels?

Noah needed consistent games and coaching and he is responding with a better all-round game. Doesn’t mean he will ever be a Marcus Smith but we lack talent at no.10. Will be interesting to see Edmed off the bench.
